I figured if I was gonna spend my Saturday nights at home blogging about gadgets I should probably either get paid a lot more to do it or be my own boss so I'd have no one to blame but myself when I'm broke. So now the future is Engadget.com." And when asked what he'd change about NY, he answers, "The weather. The humidity totally ruins my hair."

I'll continue reading gizmodo and not engadget (which is a really goofy name imho) if there's less opinion on gizmodo. I may be a minority, but I'm not really interested in his opinion of things, just timely and fairly objective news.
Well, in my totally biased opinion, I think that Peter's strength was to find the latest information and break it down into well-written, interesting, and digestible pieces. And I'm sure those are the qualities that Nick Denton is looking for in the next editor of Gizmodo.
And pPersonally, I develop relationships (in my mind) with writers I read, so I will follow them. For example, I loved to read Dennis Cass on Inside.com; he now writes for Slate.com and I look forward to reading him. It's just different for different people.
It's largely the same for me. But I suppose for myself, gadgets reside in the Science and Technology part of my brain, so I like it with less opinion.
