There's nothing Gothamist likes more than supporting gay rights and city economies, so per Planet Gordon's suggestion, we called Mariner & Company Flowers to deliver some flowers to a newlywed same-sex couple. Mariner & Company is offering a $50 wedding bouquet and we added a card reading, "Congratulations and best wishes. - Jen & Jake from Gothamist.com." The owner, a Manhattan transplant, said, "That's nice, maybe they'll write you a note." "That would be awesome," we said.
If you happened to receive our flowers, we'd love to hear from you and about your experience at City Hall. But we understand if you can't get to it - you're on your honeymoon, of course!
Gawker wonders about the poor single gays out there.

i think this represents a new market for FTD and other florists- the protest bouquet! just think if there was a page of different bouquets that you could send for various political statements- ie. a "balance the budget" bouquet for bush, a "clean up the environment" bouquet for cheney, etc.
The "right to life" bouquet would of course feature lots of Baby's Breath.
jkottke is a witty sob...very good stuff
That is just sooo sweet, you guys.
