Fred Armisen Is a Taxi

2004_02_fredarmisen.jpg

Fred Armisen is familiar from Saturday Night Live, where he plays Native American comedian Billy Smith on Weekend Update or the geriatric, three steps behind Vegas drummer, Mackey (he's also been a real drummer). Gothamist, in search of more things Fred, found this hilarious site on HBO that has clips of Armisen doing wacky comedy bits, like posing as a foreign tourist and asking people questions ("Am I a taxi?") and bringing a stuffed dog to the dog run.

See Fred on SNL this weekend, with host Christina Aguilera (expect a lot of singing, possible Britney and Kelly Osbourne spoofs) and musical guests Maroon 5, whose lead singer sounds like Jay Kay from Jamiroquai.

So I'm NOT the only one who thinks he sounds like the guy from Jamiroquai...and yes, I occasionally listen to Jamiroquai. Guilty pleasure.

Armisen is hilarious as that drummer with the lack of rhythmic timing... His cameo in Eurotrip looks OK... I hope it's funny.

Then again, who's gonna go see Eurotrip?

Fred is one of two people I've ever been mistaken for. I used to be bummed but now that he's famous, I'm flattered, I guess.

Fred also makes a small appearance in the great Wilco documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, and bunch of extra stuff on the bonus DVD. He makes some kind of crack about meeting Spielberg and discussing Jeff Tweedy's pool and how the music thing is "All just a bunch of bullshit."
