Gothamist was sick of the trailers of the new Meg Ryan film, Against the Ropes, the moment we first saw them, oh, sometime last summer. Now, after the release has been pushed back about five times in the past year, which confirmed it was a stinker, we get to be ill seeing a slouchy Meg shuffle around in tight clothes and her ironed hair. But the first sentence from an advance review from Variety almost makes it worth it:
Think of "Against the Ropes""Against The Ropes" as a "Rocky" story -- if, that is, the vintage is somewhere between "Rocky IV" and "V," and the action centered around the Burgess Meredith character as played by Meg Ryan wearing "Barbarella" outfits.Against the Ropes opens this Friday.

The delayed release is a pretty clear sign this will die in its first weekend. I thought her performance in "In the Cut" was worthwhile, though.
