Technology in the East Village

The TCC Netphone; Photo from NY Post

Our New Yorker of the Day is John Hedigan, pedestrian stopped by the NY Times for a quote regarding the internet pay phones in the East Village. People are able to access the Internet, send pictures via WebCam, or get WiFi; plus TCC Teleplex, who manages the phones, has been wiping the marker vandalism from the screens. Anyway, Hedigan told reporter Steve Kurutz, "I've seen them in airports. But I'm just coming to terms with the abacus. I don't need information that fast." Abacus - hilarious.

Gothamist noted Internet pay phones two months ago, and the first Internet pay phones came to NYC over a year and a half ago.
