A man in his mid 20s/early 30s
drowned as he tried to cross the lake in Prospect Park yesterday. A woman called 911 when the man did not resurface after falling through the ice. Oddly, an onlooker told Newsday that the man walked across the ice,
fell through and resurfaced earlier but continued to walk on. NYPD and FDNY divers searched for the man's body, but were unable to recover it. The Parks Department stressed for everyone not to go near bodies of water even though they may look frozen - they are actually very dangerous.
