Drowning at Prospect Park Lake

Prospect Park Lake drowning; Photo - NY1

A man in his mid 20s/early 30s drowned as he tried to cross the lake in Prospect Park yesterday. A woman called 911 when the man did not resurface after falling through the ice. Oddly, an onlooker told Newsday that the man walked across the ice, fell through and resurfaced earlier but continued to walk on. NYPD and FDNY divers searched for the man's body, but were unable to recover it. The Parks Department stressed for everyone not to go near bodies of water even though they may look frozen - they are actually very dangerous.

Does anyone know who this guy was?

  • I thought a topic like this would definitely inspire many bloggers. At least more than nothing. Bad luck there is noone here

jeez, where are you guys from-- Florida?!

There's nothing more tempting that a seemingly solid pond--it practically yells at you to get out on it and see if it holds.

  • i demand a photo of the body when it is recovered!! hopefully in a block of ice! kidding...but that would be kind of cool in a morbid way.

  • evolution...

  • that sounds pretty weird- i mean, unless you were pulling a spalding gray, why would you be out there?
