Vote Gothamist!

2004_01_nyblog.jpg

Gothamist loves the smell of nominations in the morning. Granted, the nominations for various Best of New York areas went up two days ago, but Gothamist is definitely walking with a spring in our step today. Why? We have been nominated for the Best New York Blog (number 25), in great company alongside 601am, Buzzmachine, Gawker, greg.org, LockhartSteele, low culture, Maud Newton, Memefirst, and TMFML. Yet that doesn't mean we don't want to win: We love our competition, but we love ourselves more. So please vote for Gothamist as the Best New York Blog. Basically, if we're going to lose, we'd like to lose kicking and screaming.

And, if we had the phone numbers of every single person who visited the site, you can be sure Jake or Jen would call. If not to beg for your vote, then to ask you to buy a Gothamist t-shirt.

Our popular and favorite posts, plus our resolutions for 2004.

After such an impassioned plea, how could I not vote for Gothamist? Done and done.

done...keep up the good work. (Where DO you find the time?)

I'm definitely gonna stuff the ballotbox for you guys.

Ataturk! Ataturk! Ataturk!

Thanks all. Maybe Gothamist needs a platform of "No fezes" to attract more support.

congrats on the nomination. i voted for you guys, gothamist truly is new york's best blog!

This was, like, the most dramatic rose ceremony ever. I had to choose between Gothamist and Aaron, the toughest decision yet. Would I choose the reliable Jen & Jake, with their numerous daily posts, adorable eccentricities (Pandas, L&O), and links to breathtaking photoblogs? Or Aaron, whose sweet vulnerability, piercing wit, and mindblowing genius cause my heart to zing-zing-zing?

After spending a few minutes with each blog beside the fireplace in the foyer of my giant McMansion, I realized--this isn't reality TV, it's reality reality! I can vote for both! Numerous times! I can even vote for Choire once or twice! And no matter how I vote, I don't get to climb into that Gulfstream and jet off to Maui with Aaron, so it doesn't matter!

this was the first time i've ever voted, and i don't even live there anymore...jen, thanks for helping me feel a little closer to home!

Politicking is one thing, but politicking ON FRIENDSTER?!?? You people have stepped WAY over the line!

Hey! Don't get all wise and 30ish on us, Lockhart. We have very little to live for...let us be whores about it and, later on, sore, sore losers.

Friendster? What's that?? Oh no, I'm gonna lose for sure...

after seeing Jen's cahuengas in that blue shirt..how could we not. Methinks she posted that pic for the bloggie sweeps...

likey.

The real question is, what do you win? Some kind of novelty t-shirt? Dinner for 2 at Rao's? Free parking? A junior membership at Soho House?

Done. Gothamist is the best blog of New York, in my humble opinion.
