Go Go Gadget Coat

In the search for the perfect coat that will fit various sundry items (cellphone; keys; Metrocard; lip balm; camera; iPod; Thompson; Sharpie pens; ), we came across the Micro System Version Three.0 coat by Scotte Vest, which has 40 pockets to fill those needs and more. Some of its features:

• 40 Hidden Pockets
• Improved PAN (for your various wires)
• ZIP-PIP
• Hidden Epaulets
• BadgeGrabber™
• Can Hold Camelbak®
• HangingPockets™
• DeepPockets™
• Bottle Holders
• CollarConnect™
• Magnetic Wind Flap
• Earbud Pockets
• Eyeglass Cleaner
• Weight Management System
• Secret Pocket

It's like Inspector Gadget's coat for the real world! Now, if we're able to locate all of the things we stash in the jacket, rather than buy a Metrocard or Chapstick for each pocket, we'll be in business.

  • yup- i got it and i agree with R- it's a good jacket, but the system is unnecessarily complicated. they need to tone it down a little bit- i think about 5 pockets and a good wiring system would be fine. for now, this one is going to be returned- we'll wait for the next version to come out and test it again.

have the coat. and the digital rebel. doesn't work as well as you'd expect. though, the lenses fit really nicely in the thing. good coat, though. nice and warm. i've got the fleece and the topcoat.

though, keeping track of what's in what pocket can get a little tricky.

"40 Hidden Pockets" and one "Secret Pocket"....what's the diff?

  • I bought GAP's new Expedition jacket in November, and it's great, it's got pockets galore. It's only $59.99 in NYC and online, and some GAP stores in NJ are selling it for as low as $39.99. The jacket initially was $135 or so.

  • That jacket is like the one that Lenny had on Good Times that held all his loot ("Hello, my name is Len-ny/ And it doesn't have to cost you Plen-tay")

Of course, the first thing I think about is that, if you lose this coat, you'd be so fucked. Maybe they can offer a "coat-owner's" insurance package, kind of like renter's insurance.

    Special Price: $269.98

it's like Jerry's coat in Parker Lewis Can't Lose! ah, the rayon shirts, sound effects and hearty laugh track. i do miss it so...

  • well when i'm rocking my jacket with special ipod ear bud holders, you are going to be jealous! so so so jealous!

I bet the TSA people at the airport are gonna LOVE it when I show up in this!!!

  • I have a Samsonite parka kind of like this, from 2000, right after Neil Barrett arrived from Prada.

It has a bunch of internal pockets for: music, passport, a sleepmask and ear plugs (included). For months, I thought it had a collapsible hood, until I got caught in the rain, unzipped it, and found out it was an inflatable neck pillow. My friends thought I was INSANE.

For your sake, I hope people are more accepting of such gadgetry now.

  • I can't wait until this thing arrives- I bought the combined fleece and shell version, so it should be a good combo for both winter and spring. I'm going to put my entire apartment in this jacket and walk around like a homeless person with everything i own. Salami sandwich? Check. Canon Digital Rebel? Check. Hyper-sensitive cat? Check. Document shredder? Check. Of course, i'll still forget my wallet and not be allowed into school. That's just life.
