Cold Weather

2004_01_weather.jpg
It's cold. It'll stay cold until Sunday, though reaching a balmy 30-something degrees on Saturday. There is a wind chill warning in effect till tomorrow morning, so bundle up. Sanitation workers are working to clear the few inches of snow from yesterday, as police officers and outreach workers try to get the homeless to shelters. And since a lot of the blame for the weather is directed at Canada, it leads Gothamist to believe the top Canadian exports are comedians, cows that are sometimes mad, and cold air.

If you don't have hot water or heat in your apartment building, look at this FAQ for NYC tenants. The City also lists other winter health hazards.

Among Canadian exports, don't forget Power Outages.

uh...you mean Ohio, right? final reports of the power outage in nyc this summer placed blame on our beloved midwestern state and not our loving neighbors to the north.

How about some more pics of Jen to warm us up ... it's cold in here ... brrrr ;)

If you do not have heat, PLEASE call YOUR local council person, borough president's office and congress person until you get a response in addition to calling 311.

Government officials will call your landlord and/or managing agent on your behalf to complain if they are not providing heat and/or hot water. That phone call will let your landlord know they are being monitored to provide the proper services.

Keep records of every phone call and complaint, too.
