Space is the place. Sun Ra knew it. So do you. If the billions don't go to this particular space program, it's just going to turn into pork at the hands of a few senior members of the Senate appropriations committee. A few pet projects can really eat up a budget. This way, at least the city of Pasadena will be safe from a recession for a while. But seriously, if all you Wes Clark clones want to stay on planet earth and watch your old VHS copies of Apollo 13 and The Right Stuff, and feel content with the space program's golden years, I guess I feel sorry for your non-space exploration asses. Shouldn't you get crackin' on those petitions to bring down the Hubble telescope? What are you waiting for?

You can't look at the number itself, you have to look at as a ratio. This is exactly how idiots like Dean say that Bush has cost America more jobs than any other President, when the truth is that as a % of our workforce, it's actually one of the lower percentages, and it's getting better. The revised space program totals increases of less than 1% to the federal budget - it's peanuts.

2020...no problem...that should be just about the same time i'll be paying 90% payroll taxes to supplement the social security i'll never see, which will ultimately go to finance baby boomers titanium hip replacements (most likely the parents of the first colonists)...throw in a trip to mars and the moon as well...sure...what a mental midget..
