They don't teach this in the Starbucks training manual: How to deal with unruly middle schoolers who may beat you outside the store. Three students from Robert F. Wagner school beat up a Starbucks employee after getting into an argument with him outside a Starbucks at Second Avenue and 76th Street. Other students cheered the attackers on, but all kids ran back to school when the police came. No arrests were made. This comes on the heels of Mayor Bloomberg's aggressive school safety effort, doubling the amount of police officers in schools and arresting a dozen students last week. While the school safety crackdown is important, there also seems to be a need for society to crackdown on itself.

i think those kids were just beating up their local drug dealer. that or they were trying to beat the starbucks monkey off their backs.
Anyone who writes "While the school safety crackdown is important, there also seems to be a need for society to crackdown on itself" is truly a magical gem. Jen, thou art my hero.
they probably got tired of spending $4.00 for a cup of burnt latte.
I often feel this way too when being mocked for not ordering my grande sugar free silm milk vanilla latte. But I've never acted on it. It's amazing the disrespect and the lack of control people have now a days.
and that should be "for not correctly ordering" and also don't blame the employee he's just trying to live on 8 dollars an hour.
With the subway slashing and the starbucks beating, it looks like we're getting closer to the opening of the film Battle Royale.
There were two incidents that occurred that made me realize I was now officially *old*. An intern asked me for a college recommendation. And second, some unruly kids got on my subway car and I moved to another.
yeah, kids these days are scary. i keep thinking, gosh, if i was that starbucks worker, would i quit or ask to get transfered? i mean, i'd be creeped out about having to see those kids again. maybe he should have been armed like the dude at rao's to at least scare the hooligans, not that i believe in carrying guns or anything.
The moral of the story is carry a knife for protection and stay away (far away) from thugs.
Another moral is end subsidized, government schooling as it leads to educating people before they have even learned to behave in society. I shouldn't even call it schooling. It's just a daytime, marxist, job-program, child-care facility.
i am very good friends with the student who mostly beat up that worker himself. he has had a troubled background, and he tells me that the worker was giving him an attitude. he broke his jaw...so what? maybe the starbucks worker should think twice before badmouthing to a wagner kid.
Unlike some people, I have no qualms about using my name rather than posting anonymously like a weak maladjusted twit.
I would like to inform those pea-brained thugs that there are many people in the world who have no second thoughts about putting a bullet into your heads as a result of the actions to which you subject others. One's background is no excuse for violence unless you're willing to receive what you get. All the little kiddies should stay home until they learn to behave like decent, productive human beings. No one is going to feel sorry for you because your father is a crack junkie or your mother is a prostitute. Everybody has a story. You're not the only one who's had a hard life. Get over it because it's only going to get harder. No one is going to give you any respect because you do not deserve it. If you want it, you have to earn it the old-fashioned hard way. And who better to teach those thugs respect than Big Bubba behind bars;-)
