Hello, 2004

It's New Year in Times Square; Photo: AP

In our book, 2004 started when the ball at Times Square dropped in New York City.

Mayor Bloomberg was joined by Cyndi Lauper and guest of honor, former Iragi POW Shoshana Johnson, in ringing in the New Year; Lauper looks like she's on the confetti diet. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly called 2003 a good year because it was "Another year where we haven't had a terrorist attack here." True, but, eek, what a downer. But thanks for helping secure the city last night, Commissioner Kelly and the rest of the NYPD.

Jesus. It's actually 5:15PM in HK now and I'm not hungover, I swear. Just perpetually out of it.

And you, d, are you just getting back home now? Good job partying.
