Holiday Party Tips

2003_12_holidaypunch.jpg

It's just about a week before Christmas, which means it's time for the office holiday parties. The Daily News has some tips for you to follow, all built on the principle, "Your most important job at the office party is ensuring that you still have one the next day." So the tips include: "Show up!" and "Do not get drunk." Plus, reporter Michelle Megna has some tales of holiday parties horrors, like passing out and vomiting before 10PM and people stealing bottles of Veuve Cliquot, but Gothamist was most amused about the statistics at the bottom: A survey of different party revelers shows that 79% take more than one piece of food in a tray (but the crabcakes are soo good), 69% take centerpieces without asking, 42% dance "in an overly suggestive way," and 16% have sex at an event.

Holiday party tips from Emily Post. And one Christmas office Gothamist is interested in attending: BBC America's marathon of The Office.

wow, 16% have sex?!? i think my company needs to have more parties!! not necessarily so i can get some, but for all the post-party awkwardness! excellent.

Know what else is great for awkward post party times? Making fun of the two unlikely people who made out drunkenly while dancing. Ah, good times.

Is the Karma Loop girl coming to the Gothamist holiday party? And will she wear that pink sweater?

hmmm. interesting. i'll have to keep an eye out tonight at my office holiday party...

someone is getting some tonight!!

um...you obviously have never seen or met anyone who works for my organization! let's just say that i'd do just about anything tonight to avoid gettin' some from a colleague.

Someone was literally "falling down" drunk at my office party on Saturday. That really amused me. Also, something about former sorority girls who get wasted at office parties: They almost always corner the geek (me) and proceed to ramble on about how "you don't really like me, do you? You think I'm a jerk, don't you?"

i have TWO office parties tonight, if you can believe that AND my fiance's tomorrow night. why the hell do we do this every year, it's such a waste of time!

I love the office.
There's some great clips on the bbc website. (especially of David Brent.
