Memories of Grimy Pasts in Gentrified Area

The remains of a woman were found during an excavation in Clinton, aka Hell's Kitchen, at 301 West 46th Street. Police believe the woman was young, from 15 to 21 years old, and that she was murdered sometime after 1968. An anthropologist helped police develop a sketch of the woman in order to gain more information about who the woman might be. Though there is crime everywhere in the city, sometimes it's hard to remember, given the gentrifcation of areas like Clinton/Hell's Kitchen.

Hell's Kitchen online is all about development in the area.
