What Women Will Do To Get Married: Trista & Ryan

Trista and Ryan

Sure, even though Trista (and Ryan) got $1 million for her wedding to be televised, plus a nearly $4 million wedding for free, Gothamist wants to put things into perspective. Trista will be living with a man whose poems go a little something like this:
Here I am, not knowing where I stand Here I am, looking for a place to land

(From the hilarious Bachelorette recaps at Television Without Pity)
Now, all Gothamist wants to know is how much ABC is paying Trista and Ryan to stay together, like in marriage counseling. And didn't their minister sort of look like Disney President Bob Iger?

Well, there's no question that a $4 million wedding, sponsored by ABC {in conjunction with cheese in any and all forms} is the apex of reality. Can there be some sort of Social Contract created wherein we do not have to hear, read nor see any "reality" couple until they have surpassed a 6 month marker?

...please...

Boy, you couldn't pay me a million dollars to get married. Of course, put a cool million in front of me and I would have a hard time saying no, even if it was to a really shitty poet.

Coolfer, you have no idear, marriage is bliss. It's the pink roses and the Betacams all over the place that taint the event (not to mention the perky couple). In my case, it was DVcams and dandelions...mediocre poets.

for 4 million dollars you would have thought they could do something about all those annoying hellicopters. and what was with that ridiculous sand ceremony? it looked like something i created at girls scout camp in 1986.

yea...very Legally Blonde 2, sans the wit.

I find it interesting that we are so intertwined with reality tv, but few people see to ever learn from what reality it has to offer.
