Watch Little League at the Gothamist Skybox

2003_12_skyboxgothamist.jpg

After announcing our interest in sponsoring a Little League team, many of you have generously donated to the cause. But, we're still shy of $800, so please donate via the Paypal button below:

Gothamist is not kidding when we say we can see one of the baseball fields in Riverside Park from the uptown office's windows. We'll be holding a little peanuts and Cracker Jacks gathering for our contributors when the season begins at the Gothamist Skybox (thanks, JW). (Yes, that's supposed to be an extra incentive to donate!)

Thank you to our contributors so far: Dahl, Lockhart, Rachelle, Mark, Edith, Scott, Matthew, Chris, and Philip; we also have promised big bucks from Kristen, eebmore, the Chungs, and "Lance."

Baaahh...my penchant for baseball-snacks does me in yet again.

Do you get to be first base coach?

Matt

I just lost my job, so funds are tight but I can pledge my superior softball knowledge adn experience if you need an extra hand.. I've always wanted to be a little league coach.

I don't want any peanuts or crackJacks . I want a date w/ Jen . How much do I need to donate to make this happen ?

user-pic

dates with jen go for $500 and up- depending on the services requested and on the personal hygiene of the bidder.

user-pic

Clearly, Jake is joking. I think.

user-pic

not that i'm interested, but what does one get for $500? that's got to be a fine piece ace...

How much for a date with Jake?

user-pic

Joking in that it's much less to go out with Jen?

You should auction off a date with Jen to support the team. Think of the children!

Matt

A date with Jen... with a chaperone or not? ;)

Doggone, if only I'd contributed 100 times as much as I did, I'd have won that date with JEN (although don't hate me for saying that Jake's more up my alley - doggone that pesky straightness and wedding band!). GO PANDAS (or other more appropriate team mascot name)!

yes! finally i get the attention i need!

user-pic

how much for a date with the Karma Loop girl?

and if the t-shirts dont sell, will Gothamist venture into the escort service business? will the new york times write that the economy is on the uptick based on the number of new recruits to the sexual entertainment industry? wait, im sorry, i thought this was the atrios comments section.

And then there were $700.

For my money, I require plastic cups and ice (for the scotch I will bring) and at least one kiddie fight on the playing field.

holy shlamoley! we've received almost $200 new money today- which i belive puts us very close to our goal! but come on- these kids need the top shelf equipment- not to mention a course in how to play dirty! reach into that wallet- any additional money will go straight to the league!

user-pic

I'm happy to sponsor 1/16th of the team, but I do not need 1/10th of the date. Is that enough to get box seats though? Is there a schedule for the team yet?

Maybe the Karma Loop girl can be the official cheerleader for the team.

That'd be one way to increase parental participation in the games...

yeah, jake, i'm not sure if that attention comment was directed at me, but this dirty south queer thinks you is hot with two Ts and pronoun/verb disagreement.

user-pic

So, did you ever hit the magic $800?

i think we've hit the 800- anything extra goes to the league as a bonus donation. thanks to everyone who contributed so far!! jen will be posting about the team in the next week or so.
