Johnnie Cochran has been hired by the family who owns Winnie the Pooh rights in their fight with Disney over millions in royalties. Interestingly, Disney is being represented by Daniel Petrocelli, whose previous client included the family of Ron Goldman in the civil trial against O.J. Simpson. [Via MCN who put it best, "If Pooh's The Shit, Please Pay for It."]
Poo tangent: After Comedy Central aired uncensored South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut two nights in a row, we have been singing, "Step two: instead of shit say poo, as in 'Bullpoo!', 'Poohead!' and "This poo is cold." (lyrics)

Yikes! This is the lawsuit that won't die. The family was about to call it quits a few weeks ago because they couldn't afford the legal bills.
Iropnically, it all came about because Disney got the Mickey Mouse Protection Act (i.e. the Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension Act or CTEA) passed before Steamboat Willie passed into the public domain. Part of the act had the new term extensions revert back to the author's heirs which pissed off the people who had bought the rights from them in the 50s.
