President Bush's trip to Baghdad was successful for its morale-boosting (not just the troops - the news networks had something to report), its subterfuge, and its punking of the elder Bushes who went to 43's Crawford, TX ranch thinking Dubya would be there.

Shoulda been titled "Dubya Can't Win for Tryin'". When he's not getting slammed for not showing enough care for the rank-and-file (not attending soldier's funerals) he's getting painted as an opportunistic propagandist for making a dangerous trip to Baghdad to boost troop morale. Cut the guy some slack. It was a nice thing to do.
and how much did that photo op cost tax payers? could he have picked a different time to visit them? perhaps at the beginning of his europe trip when he was already on that side of the world?
Again - damned if you do, damned if you don't. I wonder why you're not asking how much Hilary's trip to Iraq cost the taxpayers?
probably because hillary actually cares about new york and fights for new york, unlike some people in washington.
What? I didn't know Hillary went to Iraq - the news was covering Bush the whole time! (For the literalists, I did know Hill went to Iraq. And I'm not a fan of the Hill.)
Oh yes, I forgot how much Hill has put herself on the line for New York - although I'm not sure what that has to do with a trip to Iraq. Please, find a way to rise above partisan politics. If you're gonna call somebody out, call 'em all out! Surprise - they all lie!
If the president's visit made the troops happy (which it obviously did by their reactions) then I don't give a flip what his motives were and I don't care how much taxpayer's money it cost to do it.
