The New York Times looks at seaplane pilots who fly vacationers between the city and the Hamptons and the "longest and most treacherous runway" in the metro area - the East River. While one seaplane pilot and seaplane business owner says he can't begin to figure out "what makes a seaplane pilot tick," this picture seems to explain enough: Who wouldn't want to fly a plane from the East River?
