The eleven week baby boy panda at the San Diego had a another routine check-up. He weighs in at a sturdy nine pounds and researchers say in a week or so, he will get teeth. Reuters notes that he is trying to stand on all four legs in this photo, but the San Diego says "he would tire himself out and fall asleep." You can sometimes see baby panda on the San Diego Zoo Panda Cam. And here are photographs of panda from previous exams.
In other exciting news, the BBC reports that panda researchers in China are trying to formulate new biscuits that can provide pandas with the nutrients they need (bamboos, the number one part of most pandas' diets, is not very nutriotious). The biscuits are in long, thin bamboo shapes so pandas will not be confused. Which makes us wonder if there's a market for creating iron-cast bamboo molds. [Via Nash]
And someone emailed Gothamist about a certain product (bottom left). Suffice to say, we so want one for our next Happy Hour.

New theory: Pandas are actually a highly specialized parasite of human beings. They have evolved "cuteness" features to elicit a protective response in people. Our natural tendency to view any large, slow-moving animal as food is suppressed, and our nurturing instincts are subverted into caring for the pandas. We feed them, take care of them, and even have sex for them. It’d be enough to make me want to kill them all, if they weren’t so darned adorable.
I can't believe our Panda Love animation didn't make it into your Panda roundup.

Must try harder.
Did you email me yesterday? I'm still catching up from email, so sorry if I didn't post it.

This is killing me! The little tongue!! So cute!! I want to take him to my bosom and snuffle him! Blagh!
the little dude sure is a fitfull sleeper (panda cam.)
I love the baby panda. I really want to go to China and hang out with some panda cubs. My great uncle told me if I go to the Wolong Panda Reserve, I will be able to hold them, especially since they are so spoiled by researchers now, they will do various things for attention.
super super cute baby! i love pandas.
mental note...wolong panda reserve. my parents will be trilled when i ask them when we can go to china.
they have sponsorships of giant panda research stations?!? hmm, i think gothamist needs to get in on that action. it might be too expensive here, but maybe in china? everything is cheaper there.
oooh. i wonder if they would hire a poor non-profit worker from america to carry something overseas for them...and pay my airfare. i'd even sleep in the panda cage...
