Joey Ramone will be a part of East Village permanently as the corner of 2nd Street and Bowery will be named "Joey Ramone Place." Coolfer points out that street is where CBGB's is as well as some good eating. While this is great news, "Joey Ramone Place" sort of sounds like it could be "Joey Ramone's Place," which seems very punk-rocker-retirement-home to Gothamist.
For a picture of the corner, check this out.

this is good news, but it's a mistake. it's going to be the most stolen street sign in history.
i was listening to U2 playing "in a little while" from their last album on my ipod yesterday- apparently that was the last song joey listened to before he kicked off the mortal coil.
Is Joey Ramone Place like Archie Bunker's Place?
Good point, RIO. What's the Vegas over/under on that thing being stolen? I'll be there on the 30th to see it in person...before it's gone.
I dunno, most of the people that would want to steal it should at least know why it's there and let's face it... having a 'Joey Ramone Place' sign up on a pole for real is a lot cooler than having stolen one.
Definitely a good point, RIO. But I'm wondering if most Ramones fans are now too old to climb a street post and steal its sign. Hopefully not; in actuality, a bit of my faith will be restored if people keep stealing the sign.
alls i'm saying is that if i was debbie harry, i'd be pissed off that the corner is getting named after joey ramone, just because he happened to die first. i mean, blondie is just as responsible for the fame of CBGB as the ramones are- if not more- and now what do they get? it's probably going to be like "debbie harry alley" around the corner.
