Madonna says that Jennifer Lopez is trying too hard to get media attention and that's what doomed her relationship with Ben Affleck. minus her recent escapades with britney, i do think madonna has 'grown-up' since her sex book days. i'm sure her having kids has attributed to that, and i'm not defending her by all means; i just agree with her statement on affleck-lopez. they totally milk the media attention. during the peak of the breakup, while they were agast about the attention & asking for privacy...where do they go for dinner - the ivy, which is like the #1 paparazzi spot. they crave that limelight.
Who better to make a judgement call on whether or not someone is overexposed than Madonna? All the points you referenced are exactly the reason that Madge is supremely qualified to rail on J.Lo publicly. She's been in a relationship (hello, marriage to Sean Penn!) that some might say had even MORE tabloid buzz than Ben and J.Lo, especially considering the times. I don't think she's being hypocritical in the slightest ... she's learned from her mistakes and here's to hoping that J.Lo reads these quotes and takes them to heart.

And don't forget Jenben's shameless convertible rides, waving People magazines around and laughing at the pictures of themselves within. I mean, could you get more attention-needy? Could you express your talentless lame & tameness even more? I think not. I love old Madge wagging her finger at them. She's prob the only one they'd notice doing it, anyway.
So, why does Madonna need to clairify this to the public, why doesn't she pick up the phone and call Jen and tell her this...it makes no sense to send messages through the media without looking like a bitch - which she does well, so maybe she's trying to be consistent.
Madonna criticizes another celebrity's media whoredom to generate more media exposure for herself. And, hey, it works! We're talking about Madonna again! That Madonna really is a PR genius.

It seems to me that Madonna makes these kind of comments so she can get attention. The media in general are bored with her and don't give her the kind and quality of press she used to receive. Madonna is clever enough to know that she's not the media darling she used to be, so she takes potshots at others (the people who have replaced her as media darlings) to get press. Pathetic and tacky.
