Blackout Aid Drastically Reduced

Bloomberg and Pataki; Photo - NYC.govEven though the federal government isn't claiming a loophole, the fact that New York is only getting $5 million in aid, versus the $58 million requested for the blackout fallout, NY politicians are using this as an excuse to accuse the White House of hating New York State and New York City.
Apparently, for FEMA to approve more than $5 million, "there must continue to be an immediate risk to lives, property, public health or safety, and the situation must immediately require continued emergency assistance." And FEMA claims Governor Pataki made the request for aid after the blackout was over. Ah, can't wait until the Mayor jumps on this...we love a little fire for the NYC Mayor - NY State Governor imbroglio.
