2003 New York City Marathon Today

Today is the ING New York City Marathon and the city is gearing up for the annual event which ranks as the best NY sports even in Gothamist's book. Why: It's a mix of international professional and amateur runners, crossing five boroughs, New Yorkers cheering them on over the grueling 26.2 mile course. But while the warm weather may be great for the spectators but not so great for the runners.

If you're not cheering along the course, you can watch the race on Channel 4 WNBC; NY1 has updates. The race starts at 10:10AM.

You can track runners on the Marathon's website, like P. Diddy.

More Marathon information, like what neighborhood traffic is affected, from NYC.gov.

doshin, Gothamist has been covering P.Diddy since he announced he was running. Gothamist loves to post new material, but Sundays we take a little break. Don't assume we don't have some Diddy action for Monday.

I toldja P Diddy would do it. Now he needs to buy the Knicks and turn them around.

But I think he impressed a lot of people today. I'm surprised he didn't get his own Gothamist post. I guess he would have only gotten his own post had he failed.

Respectable, considering how all the bling would have messed with the aerodynamics. Well, that and the 'frohawk. What, has he been hanging in Williamsburg or something?

It seems that Puff finished in under 4 hours, if that is what "net time" means.

    3:58:22.

    Impressive.

I hope he celebrates tonight-- somehow I think he will find a way.
