Yankees lose the World Series to the Florida Marlins.
Pros:
- Yankees beat the Red Sox.
- Still have 26 Championships.
- No drunken Yankees fans running around being menaces.
- No messy ticker tape parade, no drunken businessmen getting in your face on the subway midday.
Cons:
- Belligerent Yankees fans on what would have been, second guessing, etc.
- Yankees ghosts sleeping, apparently waiting for Halloween.
- $180 million buys you the ALCS.
- No ticker tape parade for kids to cut school to attend.
- Yankee Pride takes a beating.

Shouldn't "Yankee Pride takes a beating" be in the "Pros" section?
It's subjective, but as a NYer, the last thing I really want is to see all the forlorn faces. Also, not that I agree wtih Steinbrenner all the time, but I also feel that since NY pretty much has the best of everything, we should have a World Series championship too.
if the ring is going to the yankees, i'll pass on it. plus, we can't afford a parade with the lack of funds.
I knew the game would ride on whether the Yankees would wear out Beckett by taking him deep into the count consistently, but they didn't. Three days rest didn't used to be a big deal in the days of four man rotations, but now with five, it is.
As for NYC having the best of everything. Yep, can't deny it. But 26 championships in 100 years (think about it: one every four years) is sufficient for now, i think. If you want forlorn faces, be in a town (Pittsburgh) where the team has had 11 straight losing seasons, without a sniff of a championship, much less the playoffs!
That's what surprises me. 26 in 100, where chance should result in about 4. (25 teams, each win 4 times.) I am still surprised the rest of the United States still shows up at Spring training year after year.
For as bad as the Yank fans feel, I have to believe Hanshin feels worse.
