Renee Zellweger Looks...Normal

Renee Zellweger; Photo - PostWe didn't want it to be this way, but Gothamist must post this photograph of Renee Zellweger at LAX that was in the Post today. The Post notes that she seems perhaps "voluptuous", making us all the more crazy that our society is obsessed with celebrity weight and that we are contributing to that. But our stance is that Renee should keep some of the weight that she's gained for the second Bridget Jones movie that she's filming now. She looks good now, versus skeletony and totally flat at the Oscars. We're wondering if the Thai prison subplot of the book is included and worry that she'll waste away into nothingness for that part.

Isn't she gearing up for "Bridget2" and being paid extra to gain weight?

Yes, the weight gain is for BJD2. And she is supposedly being paid extra, but to me, it's like a backhanded way of giving her a $20 million paycheck... this film is her. Though she seems deranged, I think she's a good actress. Just not much of a singer or dancer.

From a strictly...er, primal male perspective, I found Bridget Jones, as she portrayed the character, extremely hot. Sadly, post BJD Rene Zellweger looked like some sinewy alien invader from a heavily aerobicized planet whose collagen-loving inhabitants are free of measurable body fat.

Please keep the weight on, Renee!

But if she's trying to gain weight, why is she exerting herself and burning those priceless calories by schlepping her own bags.

Did the porters at LAX go on strike in alliance w/ the grocery workers?

Bad scraggly hair too! But the non-brand intensive luggage is refreshingly low-key. I suppose things would look a bit better on top if the shirt weren't so white and open-necked. Is she surrounded by an airline official and a stalkarrazi with a DVcam?

Renee was bf with a friend of mine way back in the day, like 1995, and although she was in no way a curvy girl like myself, she also wasn't the bizarro stork in fancy shoes that she is now.
She is short and generally pretty small, but at that time she was just normal sized with a normal butt and normal hips and actual boobs. She also didn't have hugely scary extra lips.
So the BJones weight isn't probably natural for her, but neither is the sapling weight.
She just needs to relax.
But don't they all?

You know you can get gall stones and crud from messing with your weight to the extreme (up and down), also... Just mentioning it...

sorry, gotta call you all out on this one.
forget 'curvy' or 'voluptuous', that photo is plain sloppy.

This pic is terrible. I like how she looked in the first BJ, Me, Myself and Irene, and Jerry M.

The picture of Rene Zellweger on the cover of STAR magazine dated Jan. 13, 2004 is BEAUTIFUL!!! She looks healthy and has the perfect hourglass figure. It was so refeshing to see, along with some of the other stars featured in the mag that are not pencil thin or look as though they are starving themselves. Rene is a great influence and role model for teens and women that are obsessed with their weight. She looks normal and beautiful as did Marilyn Monroe and other famous stars of days gone by. Then there is the photo of a sickly, ultra thin Lara Flynn Boyle on the same cover next to Rene's photo, and it is a sickening sight. She has no breasts, her stomach is distended like she is malnutritioned, and just gross!!! Who in their right mind would want to look like like that? Lara, get some help before you end up dead. Your weight loss is not sexy or appealing, it is shocking, sickening, and makes you look like you are much older then you are and possibly dying of AIDS. Congrats to Rene, Charlize Theron, Liv Tyler, Kate Winslow, Drew Berrymore, J-Lo, Pink, and all the other celebs that keep their weight up and look gorgeous and sexy, and will be a positive influence for our young daughter that are growing up in a society so obsessed with making everyone on TV and in magazines and movies their role models. You have started a new trend that might just save lives down the road. Keep it up. Shame on Victoria Secret and other modelling agencies for choosing such skinny, unrealistly thin women to model their clothing line. Unless women are living on caffiene and cigarettes and starving themselves, or indulging in a life of cocaine and substance abuse, no healthy person looks like that!!!

Just saw the Golden Globes and had to make a comment. Renee is a petite girl, and any weight gain on her is easily evident- especially 20+ lbs. For someone who is reported to be an avid runner for a while now, weight gain may not be as easy as for someone who is used to low levels of exercise - her metabolism is faster. She did look pretty well padded at the awards, but still fabulous. Once she stops ingesting extra 'empty' calories, she'll probably go back to the look everyone's used to. Of the 'leading' female leads in the movieland, I don't think anyone ought to be worried about Ms. Z. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and probably is not as likely to be railroaded into something as most other. Sometimes, drastic weight loss happens over time with out trying. In my 20's, I started powerwalking for stress relief and at 5' 10" went from 128lbs to 117 (which probably looked closer to 110 - I have a 'petite' frame). I felt great and I changed nothing in my diet to accomodate the burned calories and ended up looking picture great but way too thin in person and had to eat a lot more just to keep the weight up. (In highschool, I was closer to 135lbs.) Everyone's bodies do react differently - and for those in H'wood the pressure is insane, regardless of a body type. With most leading men not so tall, leading ladies seem to have a tougher situation than the men. I have to agree with Kathy (1/8/04 entry) and praise those actresses who managed to maintain a decent weight in spite of potentially looking 'bigger' in photos. (Keep in mind, they would still look much smaller in person than in pics. I doubt that the body images crammed down everyone's throat would change any time soon - just look at Debra Messing and Cameron Diaz at the start of their careers and now, for example. We are lucky that there are no random gusts of wind on the set. Who really do bother me, though, are Sarah Jessica Parker and Lara Flynn Boyle- who usually look like neurotic anorexics. That look should just be outlawed for potential bad taste!

Why they had to get a slim actress and make her gain weight. Why not use one of the many actresses who have been told " You are too fat to be in the movie business". Besides Renée Zellweger
does not even look fat in the first movie. She is only approaching normality! She has not accomplished nothing yet, other than fakeing a really crappy accent and expanding her bank account by gaining weight, and don't forget the media attention that she already is getting!

asereje: You are soo right.. I couln't agree more of what just you said about Renée Zellweger...
