People and their Crazy Pets

Travis and owner Sandy Herold; Photo - The DayFrom the mean streets of Stamford, Connecticut comes news that a couple's 170 pound chimpanzee got out of their car and held up traffic in a busy intersection for a few hours. His owners, Sandy and Jerry Herold, say he was just playing, which for Travis the chimp means rolling on his back and sometimes charging police officers. While in his diapers. The Day reports that Travis also "waters the flowers, enjoys a glass of wine [he's 7 - isn't that against the law?], brushes his teeth and even watches baseball on television" as well as riding in his owners Corvettes. Now he will be restricted to riding in a more secure van. Lynn DellaBianca, Stamford's animal control officer, said, "I don't think it's a good idea to be driving around with a chimpanzee in your car that can easily escape."

We know a cat named Travis as well as like the band Travis. [updated] But we know no super-hairy, knuckles-dragging-on-the-ground primates who just wear diapers. Darn.

So I should be able to have a panda as a pet no problem now... if only i could scrap up enough pennies to "license" the panda from China... hmmmm....

    taking collections!

  • I had a very difficult time parting with my jaguar when I left Stamford to move to Brooklyn. People would always comment on how I would probably miss driving such a nice car. Car? What do you mean?

  • Are the pets crazy, or the people who own them?!?

Okay, I meant, super hirsute primates. I'll have to amend that.
