One Box Circus

David Blaine, after his 44 day Starve in a Plexiglass Box Diet, is weak, but not too weak to hold a microphone. Blaine emerged from his see-through home of the past month and a half to crowds of London spectators. Blaine lost 50 pounds during the stunt which earned him $8 million and the amused "wrath" of bored Londoners. Reuters reports "Blaine has also shown signs of delusion, dreaming of worms in his stomach and describing feelings of claustrophobia where the Perspex walls 'feel like they’re crushing my skull apart.'" Health experts think this is due to dehydration, but come on, we know that was happening before.

What will the Londoners who wanted to bother the bugger out of Blaine (WakeDavid.co.uk) do now? Gothamist on David Blaine's histrionics and how Londoners felt about him.

as a kid, i went to "magic school". i learned card tricks, how to levitate and a lot of the stuff you see david blaine do in his street magic thing.

blaine is amazing, and i'm a fan...that said.

why hasn't any journalist pointed out the obvious?

david blaine is a magician, he has one job, to fool us. that -all- he does.

he didn't stay there for 44 days.
he didn't starve himself.

he's good (perhaps the best) but it's a trick, just like anything else, that's what he does.

it's not amazing to stay in one place for 44 days, it's more amazing to figure out how he came and went.

the underground thing we saw, the icebox, now this- he's getting really good at this...and no one is pointing out the obvious.

cheers,
pt

so why dont u tell us pt?

and btw: how does he make 8 million$ just for sitting in there? who pays and raises the money for that?

>>so why dont u tell us pt?

well, there are a lot of ways to pull a trick like that, just about any magic / illusionist book will talk about the ways, blaine is really good- so i'm not sure (i do have some ideas) but one thing is for sure. the trick is on us, that's what he does.

>>and btw: how does he make 8 million$ just for sitting in there? who pays and raises the money for that?

that's a pretty good trick too.

cheers,
pt

He gets money from the networks. I'm not sure who is paying this time (maybe ABC). They'll include footage of the stunt, include sme "street magic" segments, and then charge advertisers a fortune to run commercials during the show.

Blaine Ends Starve Stunt, from the Post:

He will not be able to have an entire meal for at least a week and he cannot have sex with his stunning model girlfriend, Manon von Gerkan.

"If he were to have sex, he could drop dead of a heart attack," Dr. Hilary Jones told London's News of the World.

Brilliant! Now, is it mean of me to hope he does have sex?

pt - you're right, he doesn't look like he lost weight, just like he grew some hair while sitting in a box.

so how'd he sneak food in? protein feed through an intravenous?

The C, the H, the I, the A, the C, the H, the I, the A, it's Chia...(awww, ya!)...it's Chia...

it won't kill him, i bet he's off, going back home, knowing he pulled off another great caper.

>>pt - you're right, he doesn't look like he lost weight, just like he grew some hair while sitting in a box.

it's easier to hide your identity when you grow facial hair.

i'm hoping someone feels like writing the scoop and points out magician do one thing, fool people...and everyone, guess what, he fooled us all.

cheers,
pt

According to a strange post on Chowhound, he wants DiFara's pizza in Brooklyn. http://www.chowhound.com/boards/outer/messages/37234.html

Well, at least he knows his pizza. Dom's pies are the best.

have david blaine and manon von gerkan split up
