Mail Boxes Etc. is the New Schwab's

Justin Moore; Photo - orangeparkmusic.comIndie rock enthusiasts and the curious will be headed to the Mail Boxes Etc. on 8th Avenue and 12th Street. MBE employee Justin Moore was given a huge profile in the NY Times as Mail Boxes Employee by day, member of band Orange Park at all other times. While an interesting look at Moore's double life, it reaffirms (and the article does so as well) that the city is full of people who have interests beyond their jobs that can take on lives of their own. (That i-banker you meet is a personal trainer on the side; the woman in accounting is a stylist.)

Some of our good friends work the staid jobs during the day and rock out at night are also playing at CMJ: Arctic Square on Thursday at Luna Lounge.

i think new york is a town of secret identities. i mean, this site is called gothamist for a reason... just think of bruce wayne... or jen chung, by day an ad exec, by night, the worst paid journalist in new york. and i'm not even gettinh in to my secret identity...

Coolfer digs Orange Park. Great power pop.

coolfer talk like hulk. stupid coolfer!

that article was one of the most useless, poorly written pieces of drivel i've ever seen. to say it was pointless, pandering and cliched would be an understatement. just a terrible waste of column inches (and 12 color photos? what for?).

I think this article was trying to get younger readers to read The City section. If this were in the Style section, you'd probably be more forgiving, lazycomet. As I like these kinds of stories, I was interested and it's a nice break for a band.

I agree, which is why I called it "pandering". A nice break for a band certainly, but the breathless tone maks it seem like the article was written by his girlfriend. And I didn't like that even though they made reference to the fact that plenty of people have day jobs so they can pursue what they love outside of that, they make him seem like he's come up with all these original ideas. Pasta and a jar of sauce? $2 beers? Who ever heard of such things?!

"$2 beers? Who ever heard of such things?!"

= glass of McSorley's Ale at Corner Bistro...at least the last time I was there, which was forever ago since it's been invaded by the UES frat crowd.
