That was pretty deep and meaningful there Micha B, nice pun at the end too. Hehe
I'm not threatened by empowered, sexual women at all, but I still think the main idea behind this costume is to appeal to appeal to teenage boys or something, more than a statement about feminiinity. Personally I think that having to use sex appeal to prove independance is a bit weak, there's no reason why women and sexuality have to be linked. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't wanna offend anyone, but all I know is that they could've come up with a better looking costume, the mask is just... wrong!

I had heard that the movie ‘Catwoman’ had received very bad reviews but, despite that, last night I took my two daughters to see it. It was my older daughter’s 17th birthday. Her sister is 9. My teenage daughter had warned me that there were problems with Catwoman’s costume and with the movie in general. She said that it did not conform to the comic books that she loved to read as a young girl. I’m too old to remember much of the details of comics I read as a child.

I loved the movie. And my daughters loved the movie - despite the ‘flawed’ costume. Her single objection was the apparent ‘rips’ on the pant legs which I, perhaps mistakenly, thought were tiger stripes. (My eyes are not what they used to be.) Neither of my daughters had any concerns about the style of the costume. Yes, I thought the headgear was a bit strange looking but it didn’t really concern me.

I was so taken by the movie and also by Halle Berry’s portrayal of the Catwoman, that I decided to check out some of the controversy on the web and this is one of many chat forums that I have come across. It seems to contain generally the same perspectives as the others and I find that interesting.

I’m not a comic book fan. I really know very little about them. Perhaps that made it a little easier for me to accept the movie on its own terms. I’m actually not that worried about the name of Patience Price or the lack of a Batman. What struck me is that the movie seemed to go, reasonably well for Hollowood (typo intentional), into the roots that the comic books themselves must draw from. It even seemed to do this with a certain amount of self-awareness. I was pleasantly surprised to see the connections, however fleeting and superficial, to the Egyptian Goddess Bast. I was also happy to see the hint of awareness of the centuries of struggles that women have had in maintaining their independence, strength, sexuality and mystery.

Unlike the characters of comic books, this difficult history (or ‘herstory’) is real. Comic books are important because they tell important stories in ways that we can understand even as kids. They are today’s myths. Like all myths they change and evolve over generations of retelling these same basic stories. As writer I know that all story tellers need this freedom to re-spin the characters and details to suit their own time and audience. Surprisingly, this telling of the Catwoman myth seemed to be quite aware of it’s own nature – that it is a myth about a myth. That’s how Patience came to understand what had happened to her. She saw that there was a long tradition of Catwomen and that she had, somehow, entered the mysterious flow of this timeless stream.

The animals and faces that we think we see in passing clouds are not real but our ability to imagine them certainly is. Selena Kyle is not real except as ink and memories. Patience Price is not real and is not even a representation of Selena Kyle but on a deeper level she represents a powerful reality that we need to understand: a woman who is strong, independent and sexual has been the target of thousands of years of both attraction and violent hatred. Let me put it in very simplistic terms. For insecure men, such women of power are a threat to their sexuality and their own power. For insecure women, they are a threat to their very survival because they ‘steal’ the men who support them.

Women of power and sexuality who cannot be controlled are branded with unflattering terms such as ‘slut’, ‘whore’, ‘witch’, and so on. Some of these kinds of terms appear on this web page. I’m not blaming any individuals for having these fears - our culture almost guarantees that they will. But more and more, women and men are finding the courage to question these terms and these views of women. I think this movie recognizes that fact. Even the costume works well for me. It is the ‘armor’ of a woman of sexual power. It is a weapon that is aimed, not at the other characters on the screen but at those of us who watch the screen. This website seems to prove that. Sadly, many seem to be offended, perhaps even wounded by the ‘slutty’ style of this costume. I presume it is hitting some very vulnerable spots in our own emotional armor just as Catwomen have always done.

Yes, I was pleased to see a strong, in-your-face, sexually charged, female protagonist on the screen for my daughters to admire and believe in for an hour or so. When we are shamed by our sexuality, it controls us in a negative way. Without going into the details, I believe this negativity is one of the biggest and most important challenges that we face today because it lies at the root of so much suffering. Whether we like it or not, sexuality is a powerful and essential force that defines much of our humanity. It is important to me as a parent that my children are comfortable with their emerging sexuality and thus are better able to have responsible enjoyment of it with whomever they choose when they are adults.

If this posting is ‘too long’ I apologize. I couldn’t really think of a way of making my point except to take this much of your time and space. I appreciate your Patience. I trust it has no Price. :)

I'm not sure this costume really classifies as a "bikini" but if it's skimpy outfits you're talkin about well I just don't know where to begin... besides Wonderwoman there's Starfire, Witchblade, lady Death, Fathom, Vampirella, Angela, Elektra, Psylocke, She-Hulk, Emma Frost, and heaps more! No bikini super heroines.... are you people high?

It finally opened! I saw it opening night at the IMAX. This film was beautiful. It was visually stunning. I loved the syle of it. Halle did a awesome job portraying the dualities of her characters. Sharon stone was one of the best femme fetales I have ever seen. From the opening credits till the end I was completely drawn in. I have never seen fight scenes like that in my life, everyone had their own fighting style, and Catwoman was a true warrior. The cgi effects and the camera work were new and fresh. This wasnt just a super hero movie, it was an art film. The soundtrack adds so much beauty and emotion to every scene. The costume? Well lets just say you haven't really got to experience it until you have scene it move. Halle MOVES like the Goddess she is. I'm so happy I never listened to most of the people who posted bad comments, this movie is one of my fave films. This Catwoman stands on her own. For all the Michele pfiefer fans, the filmakers paid special tribute to her.I can't wait to see her again and again!!!!! Go see it people!

The movie rocks and Halle Berry gets the cat part over better than anybody else. I also saw Spiderman 2 (aka The Lost Self, aka The Sad Bugboy aka The Wannabe Robert De Niro Boys) and for me there is no doubt that Catwoman is the better actionmovie. Not only does Halle Berry portrait the cat in the best possible way, it also has the right mixture between action and plot and romance. Screw the critics and the comicbook nerds. Who reads batman comics anyway. Let the moviegoers decide

What were you guys saying about this movie?
Some said it is going to rock, right.
Well guys, READ THE REVIEWS. IT BOMBED, AND BADLY. 11% on ROTTENTOMATOES. THAT IS VERY VERY BAD. This means not only the major publications hated it, but also personal movie reviewers hated it. It sucked.

I think Halle Berry would have been a great Catwoman, it doesnt matter if shes black, i still have to say that Michelle was the Catwoman. Halle Berry's catwoman costume is horrible though, shes a good actress, shes beautiful, only jealous girls will disagree on that or fags. I think she will be a great catwoman, but her costume sucks so bad and Michelle's costume was hella better, still will go and see it, doesnt look bad anyways.

For those who find difficulty understanding why a black actress should be in this role, your point is mute. That colour barrier has already been broken by Eartha Kitt, so I can't help but think that the reason for your discontent is a deep seated problem with the existence of a black beautiful sexy woman who attracts alot of publicity because of her success. And claiming to have a 'black boyfriend' *glances in MELANIe's direction* doesn't make this attitude less obvious

I am not a Halle fan, in fact there are only a few actresses that I truly like and of that few, I love Michelle Pffiefer, but even I can see the beauty in some of Halle's pictures and in her playing this role.

Matt,
I think it is so funny that you would think that I'm a studio plant just cause I write positive things about this movie. I'm actually just an ordinary 22 year old student in California who just happens to be a positive, Halle Berry Fan. I support her in everything, I love Catwoman and from what I have seen and read I think this film is stunning. I wish Warner Bros. Hired me.

For all of you Halle Berry hater's, get a life. Halle is beautiful and talented, Micheal Pffeifer could not compete with Halle Berry, she's not as pretty as Halle and she always look very tired like she needs some energy pills. I do agree with the costume it is a little flashy, but the suit will not make the movie, the actresses and actors will. I will go and see the movie, and for you all who won't, remember the old saying that curiosity kills the cat. Individual's complained when Will Smith play the role in the movie " Wild Wild West" and stated that his character should have been a white actor, but the movie made over a 100 million at the box office. I will support Halle and will go see the movie, because Halle is a nice person, not mean and hateful like some of you, who need to attend church or get mental help.

I read the adaptation book. Since the movies are always better than the novelizations, this movie is going to be good. I could tell the writers read a lot of Catwoman comics because this is a very "Catwoman" story. I'm even more excited now. I'm one of those people who are open minded. I'm a real Catwoman fan, I've come to the conclusion that this movie wasn't made for the people who keep judging it. It was made for people like me. True fans.

This movie is pretty much doomed. The costume is SO bad. What were they thinking? A strong independant crime-fighting woman wears THIS? It looks silly, awkward, impractical, and not even sleek or cat-like. Blech.

And she is not Selina Kyle? Was this a decision from up front? Or did they simply miss the mark by SO MUCH that they figured they better pretend that they were aiming at a different mark?

This will be like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Horrible, and yet compelling. Maybe Gigli will be off the hook after July 23rd.

This Catwoman movie is in trouble. It looks wrong on so many levels. When I first saw the outfit,I was dumbfounded. It looks ungainly and silly.Catwoman has to be cooler than cool and this isn't.I feel bad for Halle Berry.I've yet to see any of her movies, but she seems very likeable. In fact, she seems too sweet to be Catwoman.Julie Newmar was born to play Catwoman. She was so naturally cool and cunning, and she really looked the part.Plus, she was able to do the whole "sexual tension" thing with Batman,a vital ingredient for the Catwoman role.Eartha kitt was extremely cat-like.Unfortunately,due to rascism, she didn't get to be romantic with Batman. She was robbed of the chance to play the role fully.Same goes for Lee Merriweather in the 60's movie, not because of racism, but she had to share the screen with the Joker, the Penguin and the Riddler.Michelle Pffeifer was amazing,a very tough act to follow. Her Catwoman was the most fully realized, the most intense and the most sympathetic. She blew me away in her last scene. As Chrisopher Walken empties his gun into her,she staggers and cracks her whip as she screams"Four, five, still alive!" My favourite moment in all the Batman movies or TV.
I suppose it's possible the new Catwoman movie might be good, but I'm afraid that making her the main character will take her out of the shadows and ruin her mystique. It could make her too familiar. How much of an edge can it have?
The real power of Batman Returns, the thing that sets it above the rest is the classic traditional love/hate relationship between a conflicted Batman and a seething, crazed Catwoman. That's what makes her the most interesting villain of all.
Also,Selina Kyle sounds like the name Catwoman would have.Patience Price has got to be the most "goody-goody" name I've ever heard.Sounds like a librarian or a Sunday school teacher.Good luck.

After all this I'm thinking about making my own Spiderman movie about a young man named Jack Wilks, who becoimes bitten by a supernatural spider from hell. He will wear black leather gloves, pants and a see through top, he also will wear an eye mask like that of Robin's. I'l probably get Brad Pitt to play him because Brad is all popular right now.

A few comments on the costume:

-NO CREATIVITY, it looks like shredded black leather low rise pants, a leather bra, and open toe heels. What the hell is up with that criss cross thing across her stomach?!?

-It's one of the ugliest costumes to come out of any comic inspired movie. Fire that costume designer!!!

Halle, your acting is going to have to be above and beyond "Oscar" caliber in order for us to see past that hideous get-up.

Shayne Michael,

What the hell are you saying man?

Catwoman is not part of the Batman universe? You know there are far more important things in the world than this discussion, but I mean if you are protecting the makers then you are as ignorant as them.
How can cat woman not be of Batman universe? When she is a charachter from Batman Universe.
So when people make a Supergirl movie, and she has nothing to do with Superman then HOW THE HELL IS THAT A SUPERGIRL MOVIE.
So if what you and the movie creators are saying is true then ANYONE CAN START MAKING MOVIES ON COMICS THAT HAVE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WITH THE COMICS, and not pay DC or MARVEL their license fee, just by saying "oh this Robin is not THAT Robin, it is just based on that actor that played the role in the 60's". Would the comic company take this excuse? No, I do not think so.
So why are they trying to do this with the audiance.
ALSO even if this Catwoman is not from BATMAN universe, THE COSTUME IS JUST AWFUL. No matter for what or for whom it is made for. It is even bad for a low budget Public Access TV series. I mean Catwoman should be sexy, as was Michele Pfiffer, but if as you are saying they are not going for Batman catwoman this is, oh my...horrible, just horrible. And the head mask, what the hell is that???>
Was the costume designer drunk, high, not paid well, going through some major family emergency?
Comon dude. I dont really have problem with Halle, it is just not right how Hollywood changes plots and charachters that have a cult following.
I mean THEY DID THIS FOR HISTORICAL MOVIES FOR A LONG, LONG TIME, and I was/am discusted every time I see Hollywood raping some major historical event JUST TO BE POLITICALY CORRECT OR PUSH SOME AGENDA, ie. propaganda.

In coclusion I just want to repeat myself and say again, that THIS COSTUME SUCKS, no matter what is the plot, it is just horrible and funny looking.

The official web site is up and it looks awesome!!! Denise Dinovi is producing this movie. She also produced Batman Returns and a number of other Tim burton projects. The teaser looks incredible. I really like how they have wrote in the movie that there has been more than one Catwoman, to say that there has been Catwomen all through the years reaching back to egyption times. I saw a still from the movie with Patience on the floor with a bunch of photos of different women in catwoman-like costumes, theres even a pic of Michele pfeifers catwoman.Halle's character also has powers, like night vision and cat-like agility. This movie is going to be awesome.

Personally i think the roles Halle Berry has had in the past years have been great. Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, was a beautiful film. Halle deservered every single award she got for it. She also did a wonderful job in Monsters Ball and i'm so happy she recieved an oscar and an screen actors guild award. She made a very smart decision when she joined the cast of X-men, she did'nt really want to do it but she took a leap of faith and i thought she held her own. Also Die another day was great to and she played the first bond girl to ever get as much attention as Bond himself.Gothika was amazing, it had people screaming and clapping in the theatres. So I think her choice in movie roles have been good ones. I think she is an excellent choice for Catwoman.

Hmmm...

I will agree that the Catwoman costume is definitely busted & Halle is perhaps not suited to the role...however, she's far more beautiful and talented than Beyonce (in response to Claudia). And she's been around longer.
The fact that she's mixed doesn't diminish her appeal to most audiences.

Ashley Judd or Charlize Theron or even Famke Janssen would have been better in the role of Catwoman, ideally. Still, I don't mind Halle
Berry. I will admit that they've been giving her some poor roles lately, with the exception of "Gothika." Her older movies from the 90's were much better, her acting was more realistic & believable, and back then she was more than just another attractive no-talent starlet.

I hated "Swordfish." The only reason they had nudity in it was b/c that type of film is primarily aimed at male audiences who want to see boobs, blood & guts. Still, Halle is very good-looking (without the nudity), and she is a good actress. She's no Angela Bassett when it comes to acting, but she does have her own style. At 37 years old, she's still stunning. And I've always liked her haircut...she is proof that a woman can be sexy with short hair, just like Charlize Theron!

For those of you out there that still think this pic is just a prototype... I am here to tell y'all that it is infact the actual costume that she will wear... this is it people! Skimpiness aside, that cat-mask is pretty damn stupid lookin! I think this will be a cool movie anyway, these things are usually entertaining to some reasonable level, but yeah that costume does take away alot of credibility. By the way, anyone see Gothika? Halley Berry is ace!

I was very shocked when I saw there was going to be a Catwoman movie. I used to collect her comics and may one day again but I was disappointed when I saw the new Catwoman comic and the lousy job done on designining her outfit. The biggest cat burgler nono was the biiiiig huuuuge zipper ring attached to the front of her suit giving any foe the idea to grab onto that and get Catwoman into a good hold.

This movie goes even more farfetched in the design. Pfiefer's suit was disigned with the storyline in mind. Selina Kyle stitched it together and so there is rational cause for the stitchwork all over her suit in haphazard fashion. It was practical too, giving no room for anyone to grab Selina's hair, zipper, etc.

This suit is a hack job in almost a literal sense. Claw marks all over give it a cutting edge look but fail when it comes to the fierceness of Catwoman looking believable. Sure Catwoman takes a beating on her jobs but this is just ridiculous.

Catwoman was a character devoid of a skimpy outfit to run around in. She was still sexy with the suit defining every curve on her form. Now as Hollywood would have it, she is cast into the same room with the other skimpy female crimefighters/supervillians.

I would say this is almost as bad as the plot. Bad costume, and a bad angle on the plot given for the Batman Returns Catwoman. *sigh*

I have no idea why everyone is picking on Halle Berry?! She didn't turn Catwoman into a slut. She also didn't design the costume, she was just paid to wear it. Everyone says the costume is too sexy because it shows so much skin. Well characters like Wonder woman and Storm have worn costumes much more sexy before. Once again, this Catwoman is in no relation to the Batman Universe. So, ASHLEY if you think it's so slutty why don't you make your own Catwoman film. Then you can hire all the other skeptics who would rather voice hateful comments and you can all create the Catwoman film of your dreams. Until you do though, why don't you try spending a little brain power to come up with something nice to say. Everyone bitches about how Halle's Catwoman is too sexy, she's black, she's this and that. I didn't hear anyone bitch when michele pfeiffers version was a blonde, and was brought back to life only after her cat gave her cpr and a bunch of tomcats chewed her alive. (That wasn't in the comic) I think it's just people's nature to bitch about things before they see them. Look at the X-men films, everyone had something to say about their costumes as well but it was still an awesome movie. I saw some footage of Catwoman and itlooks awesome, judge for yourselves at Hallemariaberry.com Don't jugde a movie just because they didn't make it to your standerds. They took artistic licence just like comic book artists do everyday. Catwoman's costumes have always changed with the times. It's Halle Berry's turn.

~M,
It doesn't have to look like the other costumes. The other catwomen looked one way because they were the same "Batman" character. Halle's Catwoman is not part of the Batman Universe, she is apart of her own. It's influenced by the original.

Halle Berry as catwoman,, whatever I cant let that go.. BUT IF SHE IS WAREING THAT OUTFIT AS CAT WOMAN....MAN SHE IS GOING TO MAKE THE MOVIE SUCK. That costume is an eye sore and aninsalt to Tim Burtons origanal catwoman, that costume look like SHIT and should have never been thought of. Find out who has the rights to the origanal outfit and use that design. DO NOT START CHANGING COSTUMES OR BATMAN WILL GO THE WAY OF SHIT LIKE ALL THE BATMANS THAT TIM BURTON DID NOT MAKE. (THE FRIST TWO WERE AND STILL ARE THE BEST) THANKS M.

No one complains about wonder womans get-up. she looks so awesome, and her fight scenes look awesome. What people should be upset about is the new Batman cast.

I honestly think that pic is just ONE of the many designs they drew for her outfit, but i have a strong feeling that it's NOT the actual outfit that's gonna be in the movie... come on, we have to give Hollywood SOME credit, but yea, I'm sure that's not gonna be it, you just watch and see... =D

~Ashley's Kitty,
Ok you asked "What does a goverment thief have to do with the actresses who played catwoman," with out collage talk. Here it goes. It doesn't have anything to with it because thats not the plot. And it really had nothing to do with the actual women, but there character Catwoman. Catwoman her self has been an on going envolving character from the begining. Writers and artists have used artistic license over the years changing the character to fit their vision but always keeping the little details that makes Catwoman, Catwoman.
She has always been half good half villianes, and always a theif. She eludes sex and glamour, thats what has made her so popular. All though her name has always been Selina Kyle everything else has been changed over the years even her costume. She at one time wore a dress and a cape, she always changed with the times. She was at one time a socialite who stole for the good of cat's (like a robin hood complex) and another time she was depicted as a hooker who stole for survival. So really, you can make Catwoman anything as long as you keep her essence because thats what makes her Catwoman. So I hope I was able to explain myself with out "College talk"

~Ashley's kitty,
Someone gave you some bad info. The Catwoman movie is actualy about a meek graphic design artist named patience philips, she works for a cosmetic company who are about to release a revolutionary new product. Patience stumbles across a dark secret and the villians do something to her, she then becomes Catwoman. It's all on her web site Hallewood.com and it was in the recent Entertainment Weekly. And Omage is a word or it's a term. It's like a tribute except you can't do a tribute to a fictional character so it becomes an omage. LOL it's a real word I swear! Omg I think I'm too obssesed with Halle Berry. Is this wrong is there a problem with me?

Spiderman for instance, I'm happy with everything about that film, except the Green Goblin's outfit, why!!!? I don't know anyone who liked that costume and I'm very disapointed in Sam Raimi, a so-called Spiderman fan, he just should've known better! Now that I think about it, Superman is the only one that stuck to the comic, but those movies are just too hokey. My point is, I'm tired of writers, directors and such, putting in thier own stuff, and this Catwoman thing just spins me out! I don't understand why they're doing what they're doing and it scares me!

Forgive the following as it has nothing to do with this page... or does it? Kind of.
I thought that Daredvil movie was pretty good, but again they just couldn't stick to the comics, I mean why didn't Elektra have black hair and her red bandana? Recreating a comic as a film as it's meant to be, must be the toughest job in the world because nobody can do it without changing coouple of characters or thier costumes!

Well I wasn't exactly trying to start any rumours, I was just reffering to one of Selina's posts above, that said it's "a tribute to Eartha Kitt". But what the frig is an "omage"? Do you realise how not in the dictionary that is! I still don't see how a movie about a government thief named Patience Price who dresses like up like Britney Spears, has anything to do with the actresses that played Catwoman in the old Batman TV series! Try to explain that one without the college talk!

~ Dear Ashley Judd's favorite Kitty,
First off Ashley Judd had signed on to play Catwoman before they had a script. The producers sent in a plot summary outlining their proposed idea for a script, then Warner Bros gave the project the green light. The script wasn't written in time to fit Ms. Judds schedule, she was already cast in Broadway's "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Halle Berry was later approuched and she didn't sign on until she was given a script. AND it isnt a tribute to Eartha Kitt, it's an omage to her CHARACTER and the other three women who played Catwoman.Do some fucking research before you start shit, thats how stupid rumors get started.

I don't really care about any of this because Catwoman is hardly my favourite heroine, she has no super powers and underneath it all she's just a silly sex object. I liked the idea of Ashley Judd in this role, but fter seeing that stupid costume I think Ashley made the right descision with that play thing, even though she broke her foot in it, the poor little darling!

First off let me say this. I'm a huge fan of Halle Berry, I loved her as Storm and I love her as Catwoman. I'm a huge fan of Batman and it's characters. Catwoman is my faverite, just like Batman Returns is my faverite Batman film. Halle's film IS NOT part of the batman universe, it's an omage to the Catwoman character. Her costume does not have to be a full body catsuit or reflect any of the costumes donned by Michelle Pfieffer, Lee Merriweather, Eartha Kitt, or Julie Newmar. Halle has gone on to state that this is a completely different character. So in conclusion, get your thumbs out of your ass and enjoy the fact that theres going to be a movie with a all-star cast starring a beautiful woman who is going to kick some serious ass! I hope this movie does great, because it looks wild. Halle you looking fucking awesome.

Who even cares? Let the movie suck, it'll just teach them a lesson and maybe some day they'll learn not to stuff around with classic literature. I'm more concerned about the new Batman film due out, I have a good feeling about this thing, but you can never be too sure.

Yeah I agree Lara, its a great costume... for a Catwoman porno! At the top of this board someone said her mask looks like it was rejected from star trek or something which didn't make any sense, but the reason it looks so bad is because it doesn't go with the rest of what she's almost wearing. If she had a full rubber costume like she's meant to, the mask would blend in and look cool!

Okaaaaay.... I think the costume sucks...It's not practical, doesn't make any sense, its corny and does not look like the original. I don't blame Halle Berry, I blame the producers and the QUALIFIED directors. I blame the producers because they are trying to make money instead of a good film. I blame the qualified directors becuase they are too chicken to actually accept doing the films, so we get inferior directors and producers to do them. I also blame the producers to not back up GOOD directors decisions, so that the GOOD directors simply bail out. And if the movie sucks, then its not Berrys fault, she can only do so much with what she is given to work with.

The guy that wroyte and directed it, says he's a Batman fan, therefore he knows how its gotta be. Why can't they get guys like him to do these movies?

That "heck" is the new Batman 25min short-movie, by Sandy Corolla, a very well done production of US$5.000 dollares, released in Oct/2003. I won't tell the story, but is very close to what we see in the Comics. There are 2 version online, one *mov and *mpeg, the Mpeg doesn't work and it's 168megas the *mov is only 44megas. You can view better with Quicktime Pro. I rate 9.5. Peace all.

Hi folks, ya, I know Catwoman isn't a "Prince", I was just kidding :) But, let's talk SERIOUS now. I just saw "BATMAN: DEAD END" and I loved! It's short but worth. I mean THAT IS Batman!! I loved everything: Batman's suit (not rubber or wathever this time)but he's like the Comics, the photographer did an excellent work with the rain, his cape and shadows, guys you HAVE to see it! They gathered lots of elements from the comics. Seems Alex Ross'*character was alive! (*he draws a very realistic Bruce/Batman). By the way if anyone got screencaps or anything about it, please email me, I'm uploading to my site. And BDE can be found at KazaaLite or some websites (not full tho).(sorry my english again)

But it's not just Warner Bros, I mean just look at Spiderman and the Green Goblin's costume, what the hell is that! Okay so I thought that movie in itself was pretty good, but that costume was just wrong. I fel like crying whenever I watch that film, because I can think of so many better costume designs for Gobby and its just not fair!

OMG!!! catwoman has been turned into a cheap hooker. Good work MWB/DC on fraging yet another character costume and any chance I have of seeing this film without my girlfriend sitting next to me giving me crap about watching a half nekkid chick run around gotham city. I hate it, it reeks of some cheap strip show and should of been scrapped long ago if it is indeed the real costume. I am seriously surprised they dont have her running around in a g-string and bra with a whip, I mean that would appeal even more to the hordes of slobbering slack jawed halle berry fanboys while they drool away watching her stryt her stuff. Hey WB/DC, I have a suggestion for your next film, we get every decent comic character ever made by DC and the suit for mr freeze and let 100 angry fans take a flamethrower to it all, I can guarantee it will be more entertaining than the tripe you have tried to feed us for the last decade. For years I have hoped they would work up the balls to do a Lobo movie, this and the last run of batcrap films and shoddy series' they have done has lead me to think perhaps im lucky they didnt nerf my favorite DC character by having lobo run around town in pink tights of some crud, bah frag it all...

That's all nice and everything Selina, but its Patience Price not Prince. Hate to be all corrective, but some has to do these things. Anyway, I'm more interested in Batman: Year One, that should be cool! Movies like this Catwoman are always terrible, because they put so much emphasis on the sex appeal thing, they neglect other elements. All this Chalies Angels stuff does is teach young girls to flirt with boys and go around everywhere with thier boobs hanging out. The Elektra films will be cool if they make it a bit closer to the book, that Elektra is a real heroine, not just some walking tease toy! Or Barbie if you will.

Hey guess what? I'm sick of talking about Catwoman. There's just not much to say besides how cheap the costume looks, or how film makers keep stuffing up with these things. Let's just wait for a trailer. I'd rather talk about how pretty my sister is, the way she hugs me for no reason and kisses me goodnight. She actually climbs into my bed at night and snuggles up with me. That's what its all about!

Alright now this is what its all about... its not that there is anything wrong with being black, its simply that the character is not supposed to be. I mean just say they had've made Spawn white in the movie, that would've caused complaints too(well except from some audiences I guess, but let's not talk about those "people"). Now as far as this Patience Price thing goes, well firstly that's a stupid name and secondly, that is not who the original Catwoman was, so when it comes to a film based on "catwoman" it should be the proper one. Imagine if the Spiderman film had've been about a young man named Carson Blair or some shit, who was bitten by a radioactive spider at the supermarket or whatever! That would suck.

ive been a catwoman fan all my life and this really dissapoints me first of all id like to say that they screwed up this movie from the very begining when they decided to change her origin and name. they could have easily made a catwoman based on the 94 comics. halle berry just does not fit the catwoman role I dont care what people think catwoman should not be black its like making supergirl black if they ever made a movie. anyways I had some hope that the costume would be kick ass and the acting and actors and plot would turn out good but after seeing that horrible costume im pretty fucken sure this movie will suck ass. they need to make some serious changes if they ever think of releasing this movie.

I have so many cool ideas, i mean I could do so much better than the guys who make these films. I think Batman's costume needs a change, enough with the outer underwear thing. Come on, its so silly! Same goes for Superman, that guy's suit is so yesterday man!

Me again (forgive my english, isn't my 1st language) Ok, Jacquie, so the "new kitten" is a tribute to Eartha Kitt..but remember CATWOMAN fist appeared in COMICS. Plus Catwoman's name is SELINA KYLE not PATIENCE PHILIPS(?). Imagine Batman dressed as Terminator and his name "EVANS REINHART"..I don't think the fans would enjoy. If they want to create another Catwoman (just as Cassie as new Batgirl) someone should tell the public. Believe me LOTS of fans want to see "our - ORIGINAL - precious sweetheart of Comics" on the big screen.
I agree with you when u say "don't be influenced by the suit" but check Batman's movies history: just when Keaton was feeling as Bruce, they changed to the Blondy Kilmer. Then we've a carnaval in Batman and Robin..Now Catwoman appearing with a DIFFERENT suit and name..it's weird! Where's the old Selina? Where's the Selina THE FANS ARE USED TO!? Plus, many don't remember Eartha, but Julie Newmar. Remember soon we'll have a Batman movie, so the time-line btwn both will be affected? Ok, end of story, some will like, some will hate, this always happens. I still think Michelle did a good job in BR, and Ashley Scott (Birds of Prey - Huntress) would be awsome as Cat. Let's wait and see...
Oh..just one last thing, Kyle's full story in the comics has many elements, it could be used in the movie for sure. But they didn't..again SUX..lol. Peace all.

Okay Claudia, now tell us how ya really feel! I didn't find anything wrong with Storm, but now that you mention it, she wasn't quite as powerful as she shoulda been. But this is partly because of the script, Storm never really did all that much in either movie. Anyway... i'm not a Halley Berry fan either, I don't mind her at all, just don't see what the big fuss is about. I think Ashley Judd should play one of those super heroines, she really has the stuff! She really needs to lay off the muder mystery roles, sheesh! I'm actually writing my own super hero adventure that Ashley would be perfect for, but alas, Ashley is just a bit too old for the character, who is like 20. But this has nothing to do with anything, so just sit back and imagine what it would be like to wake up each day to Ashley... I mean er, what am i talking about? Oh well.

http://www.ez-entertainment.net/prod/catwoman.htm IS NOT THE CATWOMAN OUTFIT. Thats obviously an outfit she wears all around the place. Halle Berry shouldnt be Catwoman anyway, nor should she have been Storm, or anything besides a stripper or bond wh0re... i mean, girl. This is just going to be another sucky movie in a line of sucky overrated movies for that cutesy model we call an actress. She doe NOTHING for a strong character, i mean, look at Storm. She was a strong black woman and Halle made her look like a prissy wimp. where are the good actresses who know how to portray a character? Sure shes beautiful at times, but people only cast her for the monetary value she brings to the film, which in the long run isnt going to do them any good when they realize how little acting talent she has amd they lose their public appeal by milking her dry. Why doesnt she apply herself to a housewife role? This makes me sad. Halle should stick with the prancing and smiling and stop ruining a perfectly good character! Im still reeling from Storm. Why is she so mild and quiet? As an Xmen Fan that really took the cake for me when it comes to my thoughts on Halle. They might as well have casted another hot chick like Beyonce, though her Cleopatra gig probably made her look more cheesy than vixxen-y, at least she has wouldnt be a mixed girl playing an tough yet motherly african black woman who was worshipped as a goddess! Though she would still need a bit of a tan first. Im not racist but dammit they really stray far on Halle's casting roles. *pops a few antidepressants and chants: It will be ok... It will be ok...* Im just glad im not huge fan of Catwoman, or id be even more upset. :(

Hey thanks Jacqui, seeing her in that outfit makes me rethink all my negative presumptions and such. Presuming isn't always a good thing, so don't think it just is! Anyway yeah I hope that's going to be her action clothes, but with some kind of cat mask thing on her face of course. I think Sharon Stone will be a catwoman too, at least that's how I'd do it. I'll bet she is, I can just sense it. That's the power I was born with, the ability to predict who will play catwomen.

I agree that this movie will probably suck but let's give it a chance to suck. To play it safe, I'll stay away from the movie theatre and rent it at Blockbuster's. I must give Halle major credit for taking on these roles, although in her interviews she didn't sound as upbeat as she was when she played JINX. By the way, the sequel to JINX has been scrapped. As for the costume, I thought it was the Black Scorpion at first, then I read that this is the new "21rst Centuty Catwoman". God, another Catwoman. Give me Julie Newmar any day. Still, I can't help getting hot for a beautiful woman in a mask.
Right, guys?

Oh,oh,oh! I just found something. I think this is going to be Halle's official catwoman costume, www.ez-entertainment.net/prod/catwoman.htm. Even though it's not showing much skin, I think it's a lot sexier and Catwoman-like. The haircut and high lights help too. What do ya'll think?

Forgot something. Please don't base a movie on a costume rough draft. I doubt that the people behind the movie's advertising would show the final product so early. At least I hope not cause I agree that the costume is hideous. But then again, everyone loves Ms. Pheiffer's costume while I LOATHED it too. Ewwwwww!!!! That was way worse than Halle's. She looked like a psychotic grandmother.

Hi guys! Anyway, during some of Halle Berry's interviews, I never once heard her mention anything about the Catwoman of the comic books when describing her character. She always said that her character was paying tribute to the black actress who played Catwoman in the t.v. series, not the one of the comics. So for ya'll comic book fanatics, HALLE BERRY'S CATWOMAN IS NOT BASED ON YOUR PRECIOUS SWEETHEART FROM THE COMICS! Is that finally clear? Just wanted correct that little problem.

I didn't read any of the previous post, I just want to leave a quick comment about the new cat suit: SUUUUUX! Do they read COMIC BOOKS!? Catwoman isn't Sheena the jungle queen! Com'on peeps, it's GOTHAM CITY!!
I've nothing against the actress, but should be someone else..Where's the "greeneyed-longlegs-dark-haired" Selina Kyle?
Congrats WB, you screwed up Batman, Birds of Prey and now Catwoman...
Thank God we've Comic books and fans that can come up with great fanfictions!

HAVE CERTAIN MIND SET.IF PEOPLE WOULD JUST CHILL
WATCH THE MOVIE AND NOT EXPECT A PERFECT MOVIE,
AND TRY TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE SERIES AND THE
ORIGINATED FROM A COMIC BOOK(YOUR SUPPOSE TO
LAUGH ON THAT PART) I THINK THE COSTUME IS OKAY.
SHE'S A PRETTY PUDDY CAT! LETS SEE WHAT THE MOVIE
HAS TO OFFER FIRST BEFORE WE BASH IT.IF IT'S NOT
GOOD, ALTHOUGH I LOVE HALLEY BERRY I'D BE THE
FIRST TO SAY IT.NOW IF THE MOVIE IS GREAT DO YOU
THINK PEOPLE ARE GOING TO CARE ABOUT THE COSTUME?
NO! THEY WILL BE LIKE ..OH I LOVED THAT MOVIE!
LETS NOT FOCUS ON THE COSTUME BUT RATHER ON THE
STORY AND ACTING.BESDES HALLEY WILL MAKE IT

OH DEAR! THAT WAS JUST FULL OF MISTAKE! I HATE TO DO THIS BUT HERE'S WHAT I MEANT TO SAY... Mychaelsleeper, I agree that a movie isn't all just about what a costume looks like, but you have to admit that it does influence the the way we feel about it. If a character wears a silly looking costume, it's hard to take them seriously(See above message about Green Goblin. Though I will admit that sometime its just a case of the fans not being able to accept change. I mean I think Mystique in the X-men films looks kinda stupid, but if I had not grown up with her comic book appearence I might not feel this way. Although naked with no anatomy and scales over a face, doesn't look right in itself.

It truly is sad when filmakers try to reinvent classic characters, i mean why!? That Spidey movie was so cool, but damned if i can get over how silly the Goblin's costume is! I mean making the outfit fully green is fair enough, but a metalalic helmet with no dangly cap! That just ain't right, bub! Gobby is nothing without his flowing cap and a rubber mask would've looked so cool. WE can only hope that when Harry becomes a Goblin they will not make the same mistake.

Catwoman isn't a villain, she is an anti-hero, well maybe not but she's not a villain put it that way. I don't know why you kids keep talkin about this shit, just wait for a trailer or something before commenting on how much it will suck, a costume is nothing to go by.

I am a big fan of Batman (thanks to my son) and also a big fan of Halle Berry. That said, this costume is ridiculous! She doesn't look like a kick-ass supervillain at all. I can't believe Halle would subject herself to such blatant objectification. This movie is going to be horrible. She said herself in her interview on Regis&Kelly that while filming, the crew would wait around to see "things falling out" of her costume. How are movie-goers supposed to buy this as a supervillain costume? It's pathetic and I am disappointed in Halle's decision to be a part of this. She usually makes great choices -at least with regard to her movie roles.

Yes, yes, it would be good to know something about this movie other than "she's a catburgular working for the government" and that Halley Berry is in it. Out of those villains that Aaron mentioned I think Poison Ivy would be good, not just because it would be woman against woman but also because I'd like to see her being portrayed properly instead of all cartoonish and campy like in Batman and Robin, but don't get mne started on that abomination! I think Ashley Judd could play Ivy, she would be awesome! Yes... I am also Cat Lover.

G'day all. Does anything know who else is staring in this new batman pic? I heard rumours of Benjamin Bratt playing batman...... down hill run from there.....!

Am I to assume that all of the non killed characters are going to make a return. So, that means, Riddler, Two face (he possibiliy died but we only saw his hand going into the water), Catwomen and Poision Ivy....?

Penguin and Joker died, and Mr Freeze is good again (also meaning than Arny is not doing movies anymore)....

So, any thoughts?

Halle is going to be SMOKING HOT in that outfit. The movie is going to be bad, but not because of Halle and he tight stomach!

The costume above couldn't possibly be the official Catwoman costume, it was probably a prototype or one of the rejects. And that was definatley not Halle modeling it either. Well, atleast a majority agrees that Tim Burton was the best at directing Batman movies (although I also liked the ones that preceded him). Well, for one thing, this is not another Batman film. If you do not keep up with the comics, then you'll get lost and confused. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Patience Prince (or is it Price?) is a newer Catwoman after the character Selina Kyle died/disappeared.

I agree everyone has a little prejudice in them and they do not even realize it. But I was appalled by the comment from Salvo "...she is a black woman average white men want to screw." I disagree. Who are you to speak for all the average white men? She is a beautiful woman who is making her mark on the world one movie at a time. And yes, she did deserve an Oscar for her role in Monster's Ball.

Just for the record, I'm not a racist or a Halley-hater, I just think its obvious that the "geniuses" at warner bros or whatever, care more about finding actors who are "in" and less about whether or not they fit the role. Halley is a wonderful woman who is capable of being a fine and fancy feline, but I am not much into her or catwoman for that matter, it was just the concept of Ashley Judd playing that kind of character that caught my interest and now that she is out, I have not a lot of that interest left, especially after seeing the ridiculas, sleazy, exploititave Cat suit! So basically what I'm saying is... I love black people.

First of all does anyone remember a tiny figure in black history, named Eartha Kit. She was one of the original actors portraying Catwoman. Lets get over it, we are all prejudice to some degree. It does not matter what "Black " organization you have given to or who you're dating, some of these comments even on this page have sent a loud message. Lets back off Halle, she did deserve the Oscar, maybe not for that role, but it was about time Hollywood caught up to her.

When I first heard of a catwoman film in the works i was like "Yeah whatever", then when I heard the heavenly goddess of hollywood Ashley Judd(I'm in love with her y'know!)was going to play catwoman i was like "man, she's purfect for a leather clad super hero! I'm there!" then I hear that she quit and Halley was taking over, i was like "oh well catwoman is nothing fancy anyway, whatever(full circle, by the way)" but now that i see what catwoman will look like in the film i am like "holy cow! that is one of the lamest, most degrading costumes in comic-film history, i mean what in hell!? I'm so not there!" Oh Halley, what were you thinking! Halley... Halley... Halley! Okay that's all I've got to say.

With al this negative feedback I would think now WE SHOULD STICK TO THE SCRIP!?! YA think that should be eazy---- nah They'll mess it up just as they have been doing. These writers, producers, directors etc always think they have a better ideal when all they really need to do is pick up a comic book from DC COMIC AND GO WITH IT. IT'S JUST THAT SIMPLE. MARVEL DID IT FOR SPIDER-MAN, but not the HULK , DD and the X-MENs 1&2.(black leather in stead of blue and yellow?)

wow. i'm not even going to front. halle's my girl and everything, but DAYUM. the costume is a mess. it looks like some public television, "okay, i've got a $50 costume budget and a dream", mexican wrestling getup. poor halle. i bet she thought it would be cool after playing storm (and getting some decent lines, i might add) to get the catwoman role. honestly, i gave up on the batman movies when tim burton stopped directing them. didn't we all notice a change in quality?? now this???? i'd laugh if i didn't almost feel sorry for this sista.

Nothing to do with what type of men (race/social class) think of her. She gets good press because she is a beautiful woman achieving many goals in a short period of time.

I thought this was to comment on the bad costume that may be used for the Catwoman movie. hahaaaaaaa! peace.

The dogs are out to chase her, she looks like a bone fashionably clothed like a mummy, i hope she's not really annoying for the dogs (there's a big possibility that even dogs will turn her down). All she can do know is to join the cast of Stuart Little and act as a nemesis of Snowball at least to save damages for the most recent episode of Batman.

The catsuit in the Sun article looks awfully tame - like something you'd easily see on a Manhattan street.

However, the woman in the picture is clearly not Halle - I thought maybe it was a model showcasing the design

- Trick or treat!
- And what are you dressed as, little girl?
- A crime-fighting S&M hooker. Meow!

Agreed. That Catwoman costume is too ridiculous for even a Vin Diesel movie. Not that I was planning on seeing it, but now it's gonna require an armful of Oscars to get me interested.

I think that it's safe to say now that the movie's officially gonna suck.

As I was telling Jen, the costume looks like something out of Shakira's closet. Or maybe Britney Aguirela.

agreed.

bikinis are for mere mortals, and definitely a superhero (or supervillain) fashion faux-pas.

skin-tight full-body suits never go out of style (i.e. mystique, emma peel, etc...), throw in some homemade stitched vinyl and you've got one bad pussy-cat.

Halle appears to be wearing an art deco salad bowl on her head. Oh my.

I guess we can chalk this up as yet another insane misfire by the geniuses at WB/DC when it comes to putting their comic book properties on the screen. It's been what, a decade since "Batman Returns"? Everything since then has been unwatchable dreck, and they Just Don't Learn. Sigh.

Pinning all my hopes on the Chris Nolan "Batman Year One" movie now, but at this point I figure it's only a matter of time until the suits force Nolan to cast Britney Spears as the love interest or something equally horrible.

The headpiece is the worst part. It looks like a rejected Star Trek design.
