Detective Lennie Briscoe Gets His Own Show?

Jerry Orbach, the Greatest Actor of Our TimeHyperbolic, Miramax bandying, egotistical and frankly hysterical gossip columnist Roger Friedman reports that Jerry Orbach may be moving over to a potential fourth Law and Order spin-off, which would be about juries. A fourth L&O comes as no surprise, but Gothamist wonders what Detective Lennie Briscoe would be doing with juries all the time - is he constantly on the stand, trying to convince juries that even though he didn't have a warrant, the search's evidence, though inadmissable, is very damning? But we do agree with Friedman about Tamara Tunie who we got to know as Jessica Griffin on As The World Turns and plays the coroner on L&O SVU: She deserves a spin-off of her own - Law and Order: Medical Examiner's Office. I'm the last one who wants to stifle Jerry Orbach's career but I just don't think L&O would be the same for me without Lennie's pithy one-liner at the beginning of every show.

I know, but I wonder if the long shooting days are taking a toll on Orbach. I rather a little Orbach than none at all, if you know what I mean.

Maybe Lennie retires and becomes a jury picking consultant?

I'm dreaming of a Tamara Tunie, Leslie Hendrix (recurring character Elizabeth Rodgers, the quippy medical examiner) and Carolyn McCormick (Dr. Olivet) spinoff. I would probably spontaneously combust. Although come to think of it, just looking at the iMDB's Full Cast List for L&O might kill me, too.

we're all guessing here but i just don't see how jerry and juries makes any sense. seems like lenny HATES being in court period.
i don't think he should leave L&O, even for a spin-off. he's an original and besides, that would be L&O jumping the shark or a sign that dick wolf is taking the spin off thing too far.

Jen & Brian, I think you're onto something. "Law & Order" w/all medical examiners -- I'd watch that in a heartbeat. It would probably attract the CSI crowd too.

it would be like csi, but kind of real. with lines from the examiners that go: "oh, that sample was contaminated, you've got to let him go." "no, we don't have the budget for that test." or, "maybe on those cbs shows, but this is new york."

"Law & Order: Mental Health Warrants" ... starring Dr. Emil Skoda.

'nuff said.

Hah! Just burst out laughing reading tien's comment. I've always wondered how they get such great data in CSI - its almost like they have an FBI-level of funds instead of a police departments'.

I LOVE the idea of a show starring Emil Skoda. JK Simmons is so cool

Speaking of TV, has the Gothamist been to Grand Central terminal recently or has the "Exhibit of TV's already been covered on here or is it not worth it. I went to Grand Central this past weekend, and they had some really cool designs on TV's from the students at School of Visual arts.
Check it out, sexy, cool, and funny looking tvs you won't find your in your parents living room anytime soon.

Description from Grandcentral Terminal website:
"TV’s For Movie People: A 3D Design Exhibition
September 15 – October 10

From the “box of chocolate” scene in Forrest Gump to the “stove-top” scene in Fatal Attraction, loops of popular movies scenes will fill Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall in the exhibition, TV's for Movie People. The exhibition, will feature the creativity of the School of Visual Arts 3D design instructor, Kevin O’Callaghan and many current students as well as alumni of the program. Each television set will represent and play the artist’s selected scene. There will be approximately 70 pieces in the exhibition with one 10’ x 20’ TV set built to be used as a performance stage and movie theater. The event is sponsored by American Movie Classics and School of Visual Arts. It is free to the public."

Imagine my surprise when during the opening of last night's L&O premiere, I recognized an old friend. Micheal plays the first suspect, the trashy car mechanic.

we *definately* need a skoda spinoff. sko-da! sko-da!

Law and Order definitely would not be the same without Jerry Orbach as Lennie. I have been a die hard fan since day one, but when Jerry Orbach joined the cast, he added something great to it with his portrayal of the ascerbic Lennie Briscoe.
I also like Leslie Hendrix and Elizabeth Rodgers.
Heck, I like ALL of the L&O characters!!
But Lennie rules!!!!!!!!

I meant to say Leslie Hendrix AS Elizabeth Rogers!!

I agree with some of the posts here
A lot of fans stopped watching when Michael Moriety left
More fans stopped watching when Chris Noth left
And I think the rest of us may stop watching once Orbach leaves
Law & Order just won't be the same without Briscoe and the first half will totally suck. What's next?
If Briscoe goes, all that's left will be McCoy and once he goes "Forget about it!!!!" Briscoe is THE MAN!!!!
you know ow much happier I would be if he were my father :cÞ

Hey, my grandparents and parents grew up with jerry o. i was wondering if anyone had a way to contact him or someone close to him. email me plz.
