Amazing hurricaine photograph - Apparently this photo (above) is a hoax, but we still like it and think our suggested caption of "Um, Helm? You might consider turning a wee bit to starboard," works. Gothamist also liked the photograph (below) of North Carolina nursing residents leaving the building yesterday. Ah, Isabel.
Times: Isabel hits North Carolina
Washington Post: 750,000 lose power in Virgina

holy crap! that is an insane photo. i would go for the caption "um, does somebody have a change of underwear?"
wow--where was that taken?
damn. that's a crazy photo!
Funny how the eye wall curves around the other way like that.
someone please post a link to a high res, or bigger copy of that beautifully wicked photo.
The Isabel picture is a hoax. Cool, but a hoax:
It seems to have been intentionally mislabeled.
YEP, YOU GUYS WERE PUNKED. ACCORDING TO
http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_isabel_photo.htm THAT'S TROPICAL STORM GRAHAM.
Yup, I knew there was something I didn't like about that picture, but I was thinking more along the lines of photoshop. That is not the Atlantic Ocean. The water is the wrong color.
wowww, Really impresionant
Woo hoo! Punk'd over a hurricaine photograph!
yyou guys obviously werent in the path of the storm. Va had 16 hurricane deaths- more than ever before. there is a street 6 blocks from me that has 4 houses in a row( 4000 sq feet homes) that have probably 20 70 foot tall oaks crushing them. just laying on top of each other like dominoes. this whole region is like that.
How about this then? http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap030916.html
The sites that say the first picture is 'Tropical Storm Graham' are wrong too -- no way that's a tropical storm. If it were, and that close, the waves would be monstrous, whitecapping, etc. As opposed to how calm they are in the photo. The wind from a tropical storm doesn't just start up all of a sudden, like someone flipping a light switch, y'know.
