Tortoise Smuggling!

Exhibit 4058575 of "People are crazy": A man was arrested in Singapore for trying to smuggle star tortoises in from Madras. He put 499 of the tiny tortoises into his carry-on luggage. Worth a little over $17,000, the man agreed to smuggle them for $100.

The star tortoise is endangered and cannot be a pet in Singapore. The 499 turtles will be going to a local Singapore zoo.

That's terrible news. How, pray tell, am I supposed to get 499 mini turtles for my race with the 499 hares tomorrow? Guess I won't be disproving THAT tale this week...sigh.
