Shop & Save and Segway with the Mayor

Bloomberg gets a glimpse of the Segway

Mayor Bloomberg chats with a Segway-riding police officer at the press conference for New York City Shop & Save week, which is, according to the Mayor's office, an "aggressive eight-day campaign to promote and increase retail sales in New York City." Gothamist wonders if police officers on Segways are now required at every other press conference, to show the NYPD is all "futuristic" and stuff.

The program runs from September 14th-21st, with over 200 retailers in city, who are going to (hopefully) give residents and visitors reasons to buy. Sponsored by the Daily News, a supplment in this Sunday's Daily News will have information about which retailers are participating.
