MSNBC's Scoop columnist Jeannette Wells would like to bring to attention the male celebrity slut, namely Ben Affleck (Gwyneth reportedly said Ben Affleck's ideal woman would be a stripper with a beer in each hand), Colin Farrell (so true, every other statement he makes is about doing this girl or that girl - or getting drunk - and sadly, Gothamist loves him for it), Jude Law, Justin Timberlake, and Carson Daly. (We'd like to add George Clooney and Jim Carrey.) She's annoyed that words like floozy and slut seem to be only used for women ("It’s high time we do a little finger wagging in the direction of these strip-club haunting, poontang-chasing horndogs"), so Wells suggests a word for the promiscous men: Benbo (a Ben-inspired alternative to the short-lived himbo). This reminds Gothamist of the wonderful Japanese bento box, so it's not an option in our book, but we like the idea. We'll just try to use the word slut more equinaminously.

I'm not sure if that's true for all guys, but as a girl I'm afraid that much of society tends towards Sam's & co.'s opinion. SATC aside, today's society still sees girls who sleep around as sluts and guys who sleep around as studs. And no amount of name-calling will change that.
Jen, re: Colin's drinking/drug problems and not remembering you the next day... A friend and I were in the audience when he was on Letterman. Colin was so fidgety and shifty and obviously on something that even Dave looked nervous. Not that any of this would change my mind... he's still hot.

The only hurtful term for a man that is the equivlance of floozy would be Misogynist. Trust me, ladies, I've known dudes who are total pussy hounds who actually take offence to being called that. Besides, a Mimbo or a Himbo is more the male equivalent to the female Dumb Blonde; great looking but as bright as a fridge bulb.

U know... I take offense when chicks go and sleep around and get shit taled for it, and then guys go, and get rewarded... There are soo many words to chicks, that refer badly... Whore, slut, bimbo, skank, bitch... there all referring to women... or reffered at them... males have nothing... the one thing they do have is stud, which is the equivalent to slut... but yet it has a good meaning to.. to mean a male is attractive. This is not meant for... this needs to stop... in this sexist world.... We need a name that shuts those "male sluts" down...
