A Kiss Is Not Just A Kiss

Proving that Hotlanta only means hot in temperature, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ran a picture of the Britney and Madonna on its front page and the readers freaked out. Letters from readers, plus the managing editor's statement that it probably wasn't the best decisionto run it Page A1, are here [via Romenesko's Media News]. One reader's letter asks an interesting question:

I am amazed at the lighthearted media coverage given the Madonna-Britney-Christina kiss.

It makes me wonder whether it is getting this kind of coverage because it is every straight man's fantasy. Would a kiss between Eminem, Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent be treated in the same manner? I have a feeling there would be a lot more outrage.

Actually, Gothamist would pay to see that. Pay a lot.

kottke.org becomes a free-for-all with its thread about the most calculated kiss since Michael Jackson-Lisa Marie Presley (yes, this kiss was hotter, but it's not that hard to beat "creepy"). And might we add poor Rodin - first Tipper-Al, now this. Gothamist's favorite kiss? The one between Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman in Notorious. Oh, and the Saturday Night Live soap opera spoof skit, Greenhilly, where Alec Baldwin kisses everyone, including the dog.

I dunno. That shot of Bush kissing the dog is pretty hot.
