A Bible That Looks Like A Magazine!

What all young girls have been waiting for: Teen People/CosmoGirl/Elle Girl mixed with a little Christianity in Revolve, the New Testament magazine for teen girls. And yes, publisher Thomas Nelson, Inc., is hyping it as "A Bible that looks like a magazine!" ABC News and the Post look at Revolve, which has quizzes, Love Notes from God, and beauty secrets ("The fire of God's love burns out the sin the same way the hot steam routs the dirt out of your pores. This kind of relationship with God will do more to improve your looks than any amount of facials"). [Via Metafilter]

And according to the quiz at the end of the ABC News article, Gothamist is "boy-crazy!" Ha, we knew that ("Okay, you're a little boy-crazy, but not abnormal. Still, you might want to get in the Scripture and refocus on God. Remember all your fulfillment is in Him.").

"The fire of God's love burns out the sin the same way the hot steam routs the dirt out of your pores."

Damn, that is some HOT reading.

...and it's insightful, too

(From the ABC article)
In one hypothetical question and answer, a girl asks, "How do you tell a friend that's your crush that you're into him without ruining your friendship?" Revolve counsels her: "You don't. Sorry. … God made guys to be the leaders. That means that they lead in relationships."

Hahahaha! Awesome! I gotta get one of these for my gf, even if she is Hindu...See, honey, the guy is the leader: it means *you* can't pick where *I* gets my pedicure...

It reminds me of the episode when George Costanza was going to convert, so he can date this woman who is Latvian Orthodox. He is asked by a priest what he finds attractive about the religion:

Father-priest 2: Is there one aspect of the faith that you find particularly attractive?

George: (pause) I think the hats. The hats convey that solemn religious look you want in a faith. Very pious.

"I converted to Christianity because I liked the magazine. Some of the fashion guides have that look you want in a faith."

Way to go, Sister Christian! You’re right on track with His plan for you. Whenever He is ready for you to do certain things, He will let you know with a sign. Of course, since He made guys the leaders, better listen to what they want from you and just give it to them.

5-15
It’s never too late to repent, girl! You’re almost on the right track, but are slightly off course because you haven’t learned to fully suppress your own desires and instincts…better get on that!

Slow down there, Mary Magdalene! You are headed on a bullet train straight to H-E-double hockey sticks! Nobody likes a Whore of Babylon, so chill out before it’s too late!

I would like to know how to get this magazine! I didn't see anything on this site that said how to subscribe to it! If you would please email me back as soon as possible I would appreciate it!

Thank you,
Murphy

Wow, Another way that Christians are forcing their religion on Teenage Girls like moi. Who utterly thought provoking. I Do feel like writing to the editors and GETTING A LIFE. Have you ever heard of conservatism in your religion? Men being leaders? Thats long gone now and you should realise that, what sort of example are you setting young girls, saying that they can't have leadership qualities, as if getting women to positions of power isnt hard enough! I hope the Editors and creators of Revolve find out they are doing more harm than Good with their magazine, you are forcing Girls, impressionable girls to Throw away their dreams of presidency and positions of Power because God said Men are leaders. All Fair but we can be too.
