Junior year of college, I set out in January to write down all the instances of movie "reviewers" saying a film was the best film of the year in the back of one of my economic spiral bounds. By the end of January, I gave up - there were too many and I wanted to keep my econ notebook to one.

Movie review quotes are quite the cottage industry for no-name writers/television personalities who want some kind of national recognition. There's a name I frequently see next to three exclamation mark sound bites like, "A knee-slapping good time!!!" or "Racy, raunchy and irreverent!!!" The guy is Mark S. Allen. For all people around the country know he's a respected film critic, but he's nothing more than a joke in a suit who works for a podunk TV station in Sacramento. Basically, this has GOT to be the movie industry's version of payola, and if you're taking this guy's word for it, you're in for a terrible flick.
