Prairie Dog on Long Island

2003_8_prairedogli.jpgFinally, a nice prairie dog story, after all the monkey pox uproar. A prairie dog, Phil, was
rescued in Long Island at Robert Moses Park. Park officials think that some pet owner dropped off the animal, nicknamed Phil, last summer, and since then, Phil has been the beneficiary of many visitors' "donuts and bread and bagels." Now, Philomina (they realized she was a female after they caught and examined her) will be released in the wild to play with other prairie dogs and start a family.
