Light Bright

Bridges AliveThe city has managed to land a number of sponsors to fund the lighting of the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg, and 59th Street bridges. The city's budget problems did not allow for the "necklace lights" to be relit, so City Hall worked to find sponsors, like Key Span, to bring back the decorative lights, starting this fall. While Gothamist loves the idea of lighting the bridges for spectacular effect (romantic evening walks, cool pictures), we admit being wary of unnecessary uses of electricity, but as Key Span is the largest distributor of natural gas in the Northeast, maybe the lights will be powered by some special natural gas machine. We should just learn to stop worrying and love the light.
