Advertisers Wanted

warhol-dollar-sign.jpg In an effort to make Gothamist only a sleep-depriving operation, versus a sleep-depriving and money-losing one, we send out this query to anyone potentially interested in ponying up some money for a simple banner ad on the site. Gothamist thinks probably the best possible advertisers are any cool brand, for the best strategic fit with our brand, but realize that cool is utterly subjective...we like the pandas, remember.

E-mail Jen and Jake for proposals and more information. And really, even though Jen could use some more shoes or Jake some more ice, the money will go towards making Gothamist better and less apt to disappear.

Hey, Hugh, sorry I never wrote back, but I was at a loss about if/what we were doing with ads. I guess we know now!

  • i'll help in any way i can. i can't donate but i can definitely link around.

thanks for all the advice guys- we're looking to do a mix of things- a personals section, a regular banner ad, and probably a skyscraper. I think the skyscraper will probably end up being google ads at first.

  • I'd definitely try the Google ads; we started running them on our website at work and we hit the $100-payout mark in about 5 weeks. (I work for a small performance space in New York that seats under 150 people and probably gets around 700 site hits a day if you want some perspective)

  • Here are the ads Google would serve for this site. They look like they're reasonable enough (not Red Cross filler ads) so you might have some luck applying for text ads from AdSense.

  • Gothamist Personals, dude. That way everyone can harsh on those ads they way they do over at Gawker, man.

  • Silus Grok

Have you considered using Google ads?
