Insure Your Metrocard

MetrocardFor all of you who steer clear of the monthly Metrocard or who buy it because "it's a good deal" but still lose the damn thing, there may be solution: The MTA is considering a free Metrocard insurance program for those who shell out for the more expensive ones. At this point, the Daily News reports that people could get a replacement card once a year, and for a second or third lost card, people would pay $5 for a new one; commuters would register their name and card's serial number with the MTA. The program is being tested now and may hit the streets in October. Ah, sweet balm for Gothamist's irresponsibility...
