How to Get Men to React

2003_8_mensports.jpgScientists have found that men who exercise will add years to their sex lives. Believing that the mention of "sex" will be the key to get men to exercise and therefore protect their hearts, scientists are eager to get out the word about the exercise and sex. And Gothamist loves this: Penis as barometer for total health. “Maybe the penis is like a barometer of what could happen to your heart and to your brain for stroke,” says Dr. William Steers, professor and chairman of the urology department at the University of Virginia. Dr. Irwin Goldstein, at Boston University's School of Medicine, adds, “Go in IC (intensive care) and ask how many men were impotent before your heart attack, and more than 80 percent in any study had erectile dysfunction way before their heart attacks."

Now, Gothamist is aware there is a fine line between gym rat and keeping in shape, but sometimes people (women included) don't show it. We're just wary of people who wear a lot of cologne or perfume and make-up at the gym. Deodorant is good, though.

Crunch gyms are all over the city, as are Equinox, New York Sports Club, New York Health and Racquet Club, and various Ys. Plus, there's Chelsea Piers nd NY Magazine's best gyms of 2002.

Crunch is a gym? I thought it was club... I guess that's what all that exercise equipment was for. But then, you could barely see it, with the lights that low...

Yeah, Crunch does at times feel more like a club. But as a Belle & Sebastian fan, I was happy to hear Tigermilk playing there when I used to be a member.
