One of the best places for BBQ in Memphis is actually not in Memphis, but in the town of Germantown just east of Memphis. The place is Germantown Commissary on Germantown road south of Poplar just across the railroad tracks on the east side of the road. They probably have the best ribs in town.

Perhaps a trip to Memphis would be in order for those professing a love of BBQ. Que is one of the many great things about Memphis. Of course, another great weekend is Elvis. This being Elvis Week, I would advise that it is okay to eat BBQ while dressed to impersonate Elvis.

Places for truely great Memphis BBQ:

Cozy Corner
Interstate BBQ (has an outlet in the Memphis Airport at Gate B-26 if you ever fly NWA through Memphis)
Central BBQ
The BBQ Shop
Paynes
Neely's

There are others as well. Everybody has there favorites and two mainstays are so commercialized and touristy that I avoid like the plaque (Rendevous and Corkys).

Might have to get BBQ this weekend... hmmm...
