Those French Pilots and Their Inappropriate Shoe Bomb Jokes

2003_8_airf.jpgIn this case, the French really don't have any sense of humor: Air France pilot Philippe Riviere's shoes set off a Kennedy Airport metal detector, and he was asked to remove them. Then Riviere made a joke about a bomb in his shoes. Of course the security workers called the cops. Riviere was arrested, his shoes turned out to be clean, his flight of 350 people to France was searched then cancelled. Bon idee, Philippe, joking about bombs in an airport. Air France apologized for Riviere's "inappropriate remark."

What Gothamist wants to know is why Riviere hadn't taken off ses chassures and put them through the scanner - everyone, business people, tourists, even kids, tend to remove their shoes.

  • smelly cheese !!

1 )we say "ses chaUssures and not "ses chassures".

2)He was maybe fed up with the way the screeners overdo their job. French pilots are a bit victimized ant these screenings are not only safety measures but also measures against french foreign policy in Iraq...

Oh and what about Irak now, do you want the UN (and the France)to come and help you? Iraqi people don't seem to be very grateful to you for coming and saving them...

    I luv' Scharzy lol!!!

  • I agree with "Froggy"s comment. Even though we should take security seriously, I can't help but laughing everytime i end up barefoot, with a metal detector scrolling up and down my legs. And we all know that despite security's efforts, it isn't proof to smuggling weapons and EVIL people. And I'm not talking about the Frenchs ; -)
