The Post looks at the phenomena of ordering prescription drugs online - without necessarily needing prescriptions. The drugs of choice: Vicodin, Valium, Ambien, Xanax, Oxycontin. Ed Smith, a director of a Narconon "I can't stress how wrong that is and how many problems that's going to create in the future. When people find out there's an online way to get drugs, they start ordering - without ever seeing a doctor." One Ambien addict has his online pharmacy bookmarked and doesn't even remember the site, he's been using it so much to refill his order. Which means there's this intersection of drug addiction and Internet addiction, with the Internet further enabling addictions while becoming an addictive entity in and of itself.

Most likely the online pharmacies these people are using are located outside the U.S., so could it be possible that a large percentage of these "self-medicators" are using these sites simply to avoid the inflated prices of prescription drugs in the US market?
Ryan, that could be true for some. But we have insurance, and my spouse ordered Vicodin online, simply to get it, due to a past addiction. So, this is definitly a problem. It's super easy to order this stuff online too. It's very scary. I've already reported one site to the FDA.
So what. You can even get Retin A online without having to go to a doctor. It's like our borders, we can't control it.
