Peter Pan Can Fly to Coldplay

USA Today looks at the new Peter Pan movie from P.J. Hogan that is due this fall, which has Jason Isaacs as both Mr. Darling and Captain Hook, who says "Wendy is very attracted to Captain Hook. He's very cool and sexy. I said, 'Let's have open shirts, sort of Julio Iglesias-style.'"

Gothamist saw the trailer a while ago and we were struck at how the Coldplay song, Clocks (video), was used in it. The piano is instantly atmospheric, in a lush and sweeping way, and worked well with the introduction of Neverland in the trailer. Clocks was also used in advertising for the most recent season of Six Feet Under to equally moody but different effect.

In 2004, Neverland, about the life of Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie will be released. Johnny Depp as Barrie and Kate Winslet at his wife Sylvia, with Julie Christie and Dustin Hoffman in supporting roles.

Apropos of absolutely nothing, but here's another Peter Pan/Coldplay connection: Gwyneth Paltrow played Wendy in Hook and she's currently dating Chris Martin of Coldplay.

Yes! I thought of that too. Also, it's rumored that Hook director Steven Spielberg will be giving Gwyneth away when she marries Chris, whose engagement is equally as speculative.

Additionally, PP director P.J. Hogan directed Julia Roberts in My Best Friend's Wedding. Julia Roberts was the original lead in Shakespeare in Love, which Gwyneth won an Oscar for. She co-starred in Shakespeare with then boyfriend Ben Affleck, who co-starred in Armageddon with...JASON ISAACS.

supermovie in the world i love pettttttter paaan

About Julia Roberts, don't forget she played tinkerbell in Hook.

Oh yeah, and if Dustin Hoffman is in this Movie about J.M. Barrie, then Captian Hook will be a person in Barries life. I do so love hollywood connections.

i've heard a lot of trash talking so far about the whole coldplay song from other websites, and i just want to say i think its kind of cool to give a little bit of a modern twist on things...bring a classic to life doesnt mean drowning it in golden oldies, and good for them for picking a coldplay song, clocks has to do with time, and with peter pan, time isnt really an issue...plus the scene with the parents running down the hall with the rhythmic beatings of clocks sends shivers down my spine...but maybe im just a music nerd *smile*
and yes, jason isaacs is very cute, too bad about wendy having a crush on her dad, but they say all women marry men like their fathers *wink*
and who is the kid playing peter pan?? some people have been saying thats a bad choice, but i dont know him yet, i guess we'll see at christmas

I first heard this piano piece at the Intel Centrino display showing-off laptops from various manufacturers such as Dell, Toshiba, Compaq with built-in 802.11 using T-Mobile's wireless available throughout San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

Then, later this fall my daughter and I re-discovered the music on both trailers for the 2003 Peter Pan Movie.

Finally, we saw the movie on its opening night (DEC 25). It's really great. The audience gave it a standing ovation.

Unfortunately the movie did not include Coldplay's Clocks ;) (although the theme of clocks runs throughout Neverland). I guess I won't be buying the soundtrack for PeterPan.

but that song isn't even in the movie!
