Jayson Blair, Meet Detective Lennie Briscoe

Law & OrderOoh, it seems like FilmJerk.com has the inside tip on what Gothamist has been waiting for, as it's two of our favorite things: The Law & Order episode that rips the Jayson Blair scandal from the headlines. But the episode will supposedly feature the murder of a fabricating reporter. Wolf Productions would not confirm the episode was in the works, but, really, this premise is so ripe for L&O. We wonder if real Times reporters are trying to get roles on this episode. Gothamist would like to be the bickering friends who stumble across the dead reporters' body, but we'd settle for being nosy onlookers at the crime scene. [Via NY Daily News]

The NY Times' featured a panel about Law & Order and Gothamist was there. The season premiere of L&O is September 24.

Thanks Mase! This is brilliant. Then Gothamist must get working on an interactive map of these locations!

    Jen:

The following links lists EVERY location from the show, real and faux.

I hope that the reporter is actually a graduate of "Hudson University." Actually, a dream of mine is to do a comprehensive guide (maybe it's already out there) to all the faux schools, hospitals, businesses, media outlets, etc, that L&O uses.

  • There's also a nice tip of the hat to New York newspaper history in there, with the fictional paper in the episode being the "New York Tribune"; the real New York Tribune merged with the the New York Herald (after which Herald Square is named) to form the legendary New York Herald-Tribune, the parent publication to the legendary-in-its-own right International Herald-Tribune and New York magazine.
