Big Picnic This Sunday (really)

2003_7_bigpic.jpgThis Sunday, the Unbelievable Show tries to break the Guiness Book of World Records record for the world's largest picnic. Go to Bryant Park at noon, with two food items and a drink, and meet other picnickers and record-breakers. Bring a canned good to donate to City Harvest while you're at it. Also, "Local Hawaiian/Western Swing/Hot Jazz band" Hulabilly will be performing.

Daily News looks at the Unbelievable Show's Picnic aspirations.

Last week, we jumped the gun with the picnic. (Well, it was really Jen's fault.)

  • Since the lawn was closed due to the rains, people were dispersed around the park and it was hard to tell exactly how many people were there. We followed the rigorous guidelines given by Guinness to sign up participants and ended with a count of 1325 people. Hulabilly was great and put out a new album this weekend as well. If you had a nice time in the park, then the guys from The Unbelievable Show achieved their goal.

  • My wife and I went. It was a nice time in the park, but I think its questionable if they hit their mark or not. It's not like the place was empty, but I sure didn't see over 1000 people. The crowds drinking wine and eating cheese at the free opera in Central Park easily beat it by a long shot.

    Did anyone go to this?
