Interesting information. Pheromonally induced alterations in gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) pulsatility allow for a lifelong causal linkage among olfaction, neurotransmission, autonomic responses, luteinizing hormone/follicle stimulating hormone ratios, steroidogenesis, neurotransmission, and hormonally induced behavioral changes.
Evidence from human studies that suggests we produce and that we are not exempt from prenatallypredisposed mammalian olfactorygeneticneuronalhormonal relationships involving pheromones, genes in GnRH neurosecretory neurons, and the influence of GnRH secretion on levels of other hormones

Hey thanks for this post I never would have gotten to experience any of this wonderous installation performance if it wasn't for your "illegal" picture taking and description.

Thanks

The last picutre is from my old office - Until shortly after 9/11, I sat in that space (there was a small bookshelf on the left on top of the table) with that view. Now that I have moved to a location where the 10th floor is the tallest building around, I greatly miss the view and aura of the building.

Thanks for the picture!

Laurel - I thought the box was most definitely symbolizing the Ark of the Covenant. I think the angel next to it was blindfolded bc you're not supposed to look at the contents (remember what happened to those people in Indiana Jones?).

Also, Jen, re the two people in the room next door to the overflowing fax machine - I thought they were loosely channeling Adam & Eve; as there was a lone potted apple tree dead center in the room. Perhaps meant to further invoke the sensation of stumbling upon little oases of paradise throughout the city?

Tigtog - thx for the info re the nuns; I too wondered about that.

Other thoughts - re the locker room - I would further note that each locker had the name of an angel written on the door. And we didn't see any angels until after that site. Which led me to feel like the AP was trying to convey a glimpse of "A day in the life of an angel" -- first an angel's occasional habitat, then the angels' locker room, where they might check in before going out into the city to do their thing, etc.

It seemed at each site as if one was almost in between dimensions (the human realm and a supernatural realm).

Sorry -- I was out of town last week and missed this when it went up, but looking at your photos now it occurs to me that the picture of the crate in the Warner Bros building looks an awful lot like the Ark of the Covenenant as described in the Old Testament (also, the Indiana Jones movie). Or is that a common way to rig up heavy boxes for moving purposes?

I loved this post. I found it very touching. I'm not sure why. Your experience with the woman on the subway actually put a lump in my throat. Possibly due to the juxtaposition of the solitary private experience you were having and the connection with a total stranger, a shared moment. It was beautiful. Am I a total corn-ball, or what? Anyway, thanks Jen.

This is what happens when my ambitions overreach my abilities - thanks for catching that, tiqtoq.

And I'm glad some of you like the post, which truly doesn't do The Angel Project justice. Hopefully Deborah Warner will come back around with another project. Till then, I recommend people go to Roosevelt Island. It's a nice easy "day trip."

Wonderful work, Jen. I read it prior to addition of the spoiler warning, but you were clear that the project was over at the beginning of the post. Many thanks for a thoughtful narrative and great photos. The last pic with your reflection was an especially nice touch.

I'm so glad to see that, but at the same time so shocked that you actually posted it. It's like posting the end of the movie -- you ruined it for everyone.

I'm glad, because I can't afford to go, so i'm glad to see that it's as cool as I imagined.

But man -- it's just fucking rude to post these pictures. Selfish. I bet there will be a backlash.

Very cool, Gothamist! Love the idea of a scavenger hunt for thought-provoking installations that are a bit creepy. From here, looking at all the photos is like being in NY with the sounds of the city turned off. Ahh, the city!
